Frog's Fanny,
By FlyGuy1 "Don" (Bend, OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: ANGLERS ACCESSORIES - Frogs Fanny Floatant (Misc.)
It has been said that when dry fly fishing, "presentation" is the number one factor in achieving success. I have found that, on streams where fish are well educated and skitish, this product is an absolute necessity. Nothing makes a dry fly float high on the water like Frog's Fanny. Fish seem drawn to a fly treated with Frog's Fanny because of it's lifelike presentation even when the pattern itself does not exactly match the hatch. When using this product, however, there is a certain regimen that must be followed. First you must be sure that your fly is not water logged before applying the powder. I find the best way to ensure this is to press the fly between a fold of cotton material (like your sweatshirt)to squeeze the water out. Next, brush the fly with the powder using the small brush that is supplied in the cap. Be sure to seperate the hackle fibers with the brush to ensure a good coating. Now you are ready to fish. Unfortunately, the treatment process must be repeated periodically as multiple casts will remove the powder. All of this seems like a lot of trouble, but you will be rewarded with far more strikes. Good luck..
