Product Description

From the Manufacturer

2070. Our world has changed. The rising level of the ocean has harmed the coastal cities and climate change has made large stretches of land inhospitable.

The latest in the award-winning strategy series, Anno 2070 offers a new world full of challenges, where you will need to master resources, diplomacy, and trade in the most comprehensive economic management system in the Anno series.

Build your society of the future, colonize islands, and create sprawling megacities with multitudes of buildings, vehicles, and resources to manage. Engineer new production chains such as Robot Factories, Oil Refineries and Diamond Mines and trade with a variety of goods and commodities.

Key Features

  • A new era
While adhering to the fundamentals that made the Anno franchise a success, the near-future setting will bring numerous new gameplay mechanics, architectural breakthroughs, and all new challenges. Additionally, players will be able to build massive cities, the scope of which has never been seen in prior Anno games.
  • Become an architect of the future
Face the current world challenges to shape the world of tomorrow. You can either join the Tycoons to pursue an industrial and efficient course, or side with the Ecos to create a more sustainable direction.
  • An evolving, dynamic world
Decisions will have an impact on the environment, the architectural look of the world, and the needs of populations.
  • Discover hidden depths and new resources
The mysteries of the sea and the sky are waiting to be discovered. Take advantage of the transport systems of the future and develop a powerful economy.
  • The enhanced Anno with new features to master
Smuggle wares between harbors without being detected by the coastal patrols or forge alliances with powerful figures to expand your influence.

  • Breona Ibori (in-game item)
Intelligent and charming Breona belongs to the Tech faction. Her development of Nano technologies is legendary.
  • Formula: Sonic modulator (in-game item)

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of Draconian DRM! January 17, 2012
By Orion
I was horrified to learn that the DRM on this game is now set up to prevent more than 3 hardware upgrades on your computer. Go over that limit, and it's Game Over for you, and Ubisoft has no intentions of helping fix the issue.

This is the last Ubisoft game I purchase. Considering that I've switched through 3 graphic cards in the last 2 years, such a ridiculous DRM implementation does nothing more than to annoy their paying customers. And then they wonder why piracy is so rampant.

I know that some folks will comment about this not being "relevant" or a reflection of the game, but when it comes to game publishers pulling such cheap tricks on their customers, they deserve no forgiveness or mercy.

Besides, I want everyone to know that this game will not work on their PC after 3 hardware changes, so they should think twice before spending their money on this game.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not support this terrible DRM February 14, 2012
Please do not purchase this game. Doing so encourages publishers like Ubisoft to continue using terrible DRM which rewards pirates and hurts consumers.

This game is limited to three installs. Forever. If you're like me sometimes you like to pull out an old game and fire it up for old time's sake. You can forget about that here. Even upgrading part of your computer will forever use up one of your activations. Want to put it on a laptop so you can use it while you travel? You just used up 1/3 of your license forever.

Of course people that pirate the game are free to install it however they like.

It is terrible that companies like this treat their potential customers like criminals while the actual criminals don't suffer at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars SAY NO TO DRM!! May 15, 2012
By Rob NY
I've bought and played ALL of the ANNO games since 1602, and spent more hours than I can even count building massive empires with extremely complex trade routes. I was thrilled to see another installment released, but I absolutely will NOT pay for something that limits my hardware changes and installs.

Wake up UBI, look at all of your other software title reviews, both here on Amazon and on gaming sites. People are not as stupid as you think, and will simply find a different game to fill their time with and throw their money at if their freedoms are inhibited by your software.

By adding DRM you've actually promoted the use of piracy instead of reduced it, because those that really do want to play it will find a way.

1.0 out of 5 stars LOCKED OUT May 23, 2012
By Rulycar
The game was interesting, though less than I had hoped (I loved 1404). Sadly, my opinion no longer matters. As of February server changes I am LOCKED OUT of this title (it is now May). Weeks of support from Ubisoft/BlueByte (which eventually led to uninstall/reinstall ad infinitum) failed to make this previously functioning title functional. I am done ... no longer will I willing spend money on Ubisoft/BlueByte and DRM induced frustration. Keep my money ... it is the last you will ever see.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of Uplay August 30, 2012
Verified Purchase
I love buying software from Amazon. The whole process is easy and if you need to download it again, it's right there in your digital cloud.

That said, Anno2070 uses a software pirate protection called Uplay. It's a separate program that tracks your name, email and serial number.
If you have any problems, their technical assistance is unhelpful and unbending. Their servers went down and all users got was the wrong
name, password and a message saying to start a new account. If you do start a new account, you're done playing the game forever. They will
not cancel that account. All you get is a message saying you can only have one account. This the last time I buy a game from Ubisoft.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Gameplay But Drm Limits Game Function September 19, 2012
This game is great if you intend to maintain the same system forever after buying this game. If you ever decide to play an offline game (good luck getting that to work) you will be unable to access your save files or even continue where you left off while online and your save files are on your computer. This will be my last Ubisoft purchase honestly I cannot consent to such Drakonian buisness practices my friend reprogrammed the ubisoft launcher to allow full game fucntionality to any game he purchases and he doesn purchase many and has a huge gaming library. As a loyal customer I suffer while he acually gets enjoyment out of the products he didnt purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Online authentication for offline games = huge fail July 18, 2012
By Scelto
I'm actively looking for something to sate my desire for a new RTS style game, and as a sort of "Civ meets Rome" game, this sounded ideal.

Until I read that the authentication is performed online.

Not only is it performed online, but it's performed online every single time you run the game.

I know this isn't the only game to do that (Diablo 3 - another great game I refuse to buy - springs immediately to mind) but what a completely pointless and cumbersome way to do it.

It's an offline game. Why the hell shouldn't I be able to play on a long flight? Or on the train? Or anywhere the hell I want without an internet connection?

Why should my ability to play this offline game be dictated by the availability of the publisher/developer's servers?

That answer, by the way, is that it shouldn't!

And I won't ever buy a game that insists that it should.

These measures do NOT curb piracy - the pirates will always defeat DRM no matter how clever the publishers think they are - the measures just make it a real PITA for legitimate customers.

Or would-be-customers in my case.

I hope more people start boycotting this sort of approach to licensing. That's the only way the game publishers / developers will ever take any notice.
