If you're like me and have only experienced Brazilian music in terms of a handful of composers and a slew of renditions based on a dozen or so tunes, you owe it to yourself to check out Gismonti. And if you've not heard his stuff, what better way than to get the Antologia? At once experimental and still rooted in the rhythms and sounds of Brazil, both CDs are packed with ear-opening compositions played expertly.
