5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this book!
If you are studying for the AP Comparative Government and Politics exam, this is the study guide you want to use. It is a comprehensive review of everything you need to know to pass the exam. My students who use Mrs. Wood's review guide all get 3s, 4s, and 5s!

3.0 out of 5 stars Really extensive
For those of you looking for a Princeton Review type study book, this isn't the book for you. I would find it as a replacement for a textbook rather than a supplement. Trying to review only a week or two before the AP test out of it is almost impossible because it's so long and dense, BUT if you're self studying and need ALL of the information this is a great place to get...

5.0 out of 5 stars The most incredible book ever for AP Comp. Govt, October 14, 2010

This review is from: AP Comparative Government and Politics: a Study Guide, 4th edition (Perfect Paperback)
I took AP Comparative Politics and Government last year as a 10th grader and it was my first AP class ever. I had a crap teacher who couldn't teach and I was scared all year I was going to fail. About halfway through my sophomore year after the Christmas break, I bought this book after reading the reviews on Amazon, and I did not regret. IT IS AMAZING. Everything is clear and concise, the text is easy to read, and the questions at the end very much mimic the exam questions. I relied solely on the book for the exam and although that's not ideal, that was my only choice. I read it over and over again all year and the week before the exam I took the practice exams and continued to study. I got a 5 in the end, and I was one of the only two people in the school who got a 5, and I credit it entirely to Ethel Wood. Buy this book; it will literally save your life like it did mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Book, September 22, 2010

This review is from: AP Comparative Government and Politics: a Study Guide, 4th edition (Perfect Paperback)
For a person that religiously relied on the Princeton Review Books for A.P. tests, I was initially hesitant to buy a book that looked so un-official and rather brief. However, buying this book was the best thing I ever did for myself and Comparative Government. Reading this brief text, which is easy to understand, prepared me incredibly well for the exam. As a result of this book, and also outside knowledge, I was able to answer the 53 multiple choice questions in 19 minutes, no joke.

I would recommend this book and only this book, to anyone looking to study for the A.P. Comp Gov Exam.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, August 25, 2010
This review is from: AP Comparative Government and Politics: a Study Guide, 4th edition (Perfect Paperback)
This book was exceedingly helpful throughout the course and I do not know what I would have done with out it. The questions at the end of each section and the practice tests at the end of the book were extremely helpful. This book is not your typical AP review book so I wouldn't wait to start using this the week before the exam like you might do with other AP review books. The book is more set up like a short textbook than is like a review book, so I would recommend using it thoughout the course and highlighting the essentials so that you can just look over the highlighted stuff when it comes time to start reviewing for the exam. In my AP Comp Gov class we used this as our main book and occasionally used parts of other textbooks. I ended up making a 4 on the exam using this book as my main source of information.

This book is amazing, so indepth and not confusing at all. The author clearly presents the information and gives current facts. I got a 5 on the exam and it was definately because of this book, I plan to get more books by this author. Don't even consider other books, definately get it. Just make sure you have enough time to read it and you will surely pass.

Everything you need to know. Broad and at the same time, detailed, but you cannot depend solely on this book and expect an easy 5. You should also take other steps to insure you have the proper background and understanding as well as read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, May 23, 2011

This is an awesome, easy to read study guide for the AP test -- you can supplant a textbook/the class itself with it. Also, the author, Ethel Wood, was very friend and servicing; my 4th edition copy of this book had the 3rd edition answer key. E-mailing her, she replied within 24 hours with the correct answer key for the 4th edition book -- excellent service, writing, and information. Go for this guys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ethel Woods takes his subject seriously and concisely, May 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: AP Comparative Government and Politics: a Study Guide, 4th edition (Perfect Paperback)
As a student deeply interested in political science, I took both the U.S. Government and Comparative Government AP tests despite the fact that Comparative Government was not taught at my school. This study guide gave me a five on the test and great pleasure in reading it because of its serious nature of exposition. As the U.S. Government class I was in while studying this text was full of people who were either politically ignorant or apathetic, Ethel Woods' serious approach to politics was a refreshing experience and counterbalance to the frequent cringing and frustration I felt at school.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Most, May 3, 2011
This review is from: AP Comparative Government and Politics: a Study Guide, 4th edition (Perfect Paperback)
We're only in the second year of my school offering this class, and this is one of the two texts we have been using. This is FAR superior to the other, where the writing is simply crap, and is of little use for what the college board's expectations are. I am to take AP test in one week, and feel that without this book, I would have done much more poorly than I now expect to do.
