This book is a must have for students with APA essay assignments. As a full time college student, time is not on my side. Reading through a 400+ page book to find out how to correctly format and document an essay is a real problem. I needed something short and to the point. The book is everything I needed, and nothing I didn't. The information is straight to the point and the examples are simple and clear. If you're a visual learner like myself, you will like the generous amounts of visual aids. All of this, and it fits in your shirt pocket to boot.

This is a good book depending on what you need it for. If you are writing a paper and need to know about APA rules for Title, Abstract, Information, and References then you will be spot on. If you are writing a Research paper and need Methods, anything on Tables and Graphs and how to place Results into the correct form, then you'll be sorely disappointed. I like the book for what it is BUT it should come with a disclaimer saying: warning - this book is fifty pages of large print that works only if you need a primer.
For the price, you could buy other books and have them help you out.

One other thing I noticed was that there were errors in some of the reporting procedures. Perhaps some of them are small things (on the Title Page, for instance, it says to add a first and last name BUT the APA manual specifically says to cite the middle initial as well), but small things add up to lost grades. There is a pro to this as well; the beast called internet citation is addressed in these pages. If you look at an APA manual, you'll notice how the manual is becoming more and more outdated and how you really don't have anything conclusive coming from the APA to address newer Electronic resources. This book helps some with that, and I liked that alot.

If you want to brush up on how to cite something, then this would be a great book. It gives you a lot of things that are nice little hints, and the examples provided are good to have. If you want to know little rules on the Title or Abstract Page then you can also use the book, and the Information section is somewhat covered (although a lot of weird rules are not included here).
If you are just a paper writer needing help for classes then this will work. If you are a Thesis student needing a friend then this thing will sell you out and swallow your academic soul.
Can't really recommend because of these faults.

This handbook is great. The official APA guide is so long and confusing. But this is wonderful. It tells you everything in plain, simple English. It has pictures to show you what everything should look like. For those of you who are used the MLA and now have to format using APA, this is the handbook for you. Very direct, very simple and WITH PICTURES.

This little book has helped me with the tedious task of APA format. The basics are here and at your finger tips. This should accompany the larger APA manual- this little book covers 85% of APA format needs in my estimation. It is a bargain.

I read the mixed reviews of this book but thought I would take a chance. It may not have a lot of profound information, but it is yellow (easy to find) & has some essential info that's pretty easy to find. I have several APA books, but often grab this one first. I would suggest adding it to your APA arsenal.

I love the "pocket" size of this book! For those of us who don't have time to read lengthy texts on the subject and just want to cut to the heart of what we need to know for meeting APA guidelines, this is the book to have. Everything you really need to know in a very concise and portable format. The author obviously knows her stuff!

This book may be small, but it contains a lot of information. It covers everything from setting up margins to citing e-journals and newsgroups. It is much easier to navigate then the official APA manual. There is even an index in the back. It is great for professionals and students alike. It is well worth the price!

I make sure this is always in my backpack. I'm had a few classmates attempt to steal it, and once I have gotten it back I usually see them with there own copy in a week or so. This is really helpful in the crunch time of getting papers done. I highly recommend this, but realize this is not comprehensive since it is so small; but it has the most commonly used sources that a student would need.

This book was perfect for bringing along on a trip when I had to school work. It is small enough to put in the carry-on or in the suitcase. It is very light. It has the information you need for writing in APA style in that little book.

The APA Pocket Handbook is very useful to me as an instructor at a local university. I find that today's students can enrich their educational experience by learning the rules for format and documentation, no mater what their chosen profession or degree.
