I purchased one of these to replace my aged BR1000. I thought I would go up in capacity/runtime, and this unit is of identical form factor = no rearranging my desk. However the internals are different and this unit makes a very audible (not loud, but audible) hum from the charging circuit, whether on or off. I will be returning it and likely getting a battery for my BR1000, because the hum is going to drive me nuts.

The product was shipped quickly. All needed items came with the unit. Set up was easy. I set the protection as narrow as possible. It has saved my computer/data several time now. Well worth the price.

Works as advertised and was cheaper than any computer store. Sometimes I can hear it clicking on and off providing smooth power as I sit at the computer which doesn't miss a beat. Hawaii's power grid is comparable to Yugoslavia's -- you better have a UPS for your electronics and a generator in your storage shed.

I shudder to think what would be left of my brand new iMac if I had just plugged it into our island's stone-age power supply.

I'm using the APC BR1200 Back-UPS as a power back-up and surge suppressor for my electronics entertainment center (TV, DVD, AV Receiver, etc.). I love the eight outlets on the back side, enough to cover every piece of hardware I wanted protection for. It was easy to set up and worked well right out of the box, after removing the protective tape, etc. I've used APC UPS' before, and have always been happy with them, but this one is the best yet.

The UPS is easy to set up and install and seems reliable. It has already bridged several short power outages, supporting uninterrupted service.

Very satisfied . We are using this unit on two PCs and it has been flawless.

I ordered the APC BR1200 Back-UPS 1200VA just to have a backup in storage for my current model. We own several APC backup power supplies and have found that they usually work fine. Our electrical supply goes offline at least once a month, sometimes for only a few seconds but occasionally longer. Our APC Back-UPS have protected our computers from these outages and the surge when power comes back on. However, this unit arrived DOA.

I was completely satisfied with Amazon.com's service. I was able to ship it back and get a complete refund. I especially appreciate that Amazon.com arranged for the pickup from our house. I give Amazon.com five stars for their service but give APC two stars for letting this one slip past their quality control. Backup power supplies/surge protectors need to work ALL of the time. Finding this unit dead out of the box rattled my confidence.

This APC covers all my electronics and gives me a secure back-up power. Arrived in a timely manner and functions as promised.

I'm no power/electrical guru but this unit was simply horrible.

At 1200va/780w, it failed miserably to even handle a boot up of a Mac Pro (new Intel models). The Mac was the *only* unit drawing power from it (the cinema display was on a separate UPS).

Compared to a non-branded almost half-rated unit that I was "upgrading from", which didn't really have any issues with my Mac, this unit with double the specs matched up horribly.

It would shut down from a cold start of my Mac, in overload mode with matching alarms. Turn the unit off and on again, and everything would be fine. It seems to have a "sleep mode" - its the only way I can describe it. However, even when "awake", it would still exhibit lack of power capability to handle a simple power up of one unit. If it "decides" to handle the power up, it will briefly sound an alarm - again, symptoms of either a defective unit, or severely overrated specs.

If you are a Intel Mac Pro user, or have a PC with similar configurations, I would absolutely stay clear of this unit. In fact I wouldn't recommend it at all - you will have better reliability and will save your equipment with some other unit.

Yes, the Mac Pro specs are quite "beefy", but as stated above, a half-rated unit from a office store chain brand did not have any issues whatsoever. I specifically purchased this unit knowing I need more power, and would use it only for my Mac (the lesser UPS would power up other peripherals).

I returned this unit and purchased a CyberPower with similar specs and price range, and have no issues whatsoever.

To summarize:

- I'll leave some room for the possibility of receiving a lemon, old stock, or defective unit. I'm only saying this because I'm giving APC the benefit of the doubt.

- If it wasn't, stay clear of this unit, specs seem overrated. Why spend money/risk equipment on a lesser unit? Get one that can handle your systems reliably, with similar/matching specs, at the same or less price range.

we use it to back up our phone equipment for a small office. So far, so go.
