Order this to try and save on money since I didnt need a whole lot of outlets, I pluged my computer to it and TV. On a full battery It was able to run for about 5-10mins with my 32' CRT tv and 19' LCD monitor + comp. Good enough for me to power down the computer, would last longer if the TV was off im sure.

Like one of the previous reviewers, mine didn't last very long at all. Actually neither of the APC backups I own lasted very long. Then I made the mistake of ordering a new battery for it instead of purchasing a new one. The new battery didn't revive the unit. I will never buy APC again - the aggravation and limited lifespan is not worth the low price.

Nice, 4 outlets, very compact for small areas and modest usage. I bought it for my wife's computerized Bernina sewing machine and the laptop she attaches to it. Just right and great price.

survived about 2 years, had to replace the battery after one year - expensive and hard to find. Then bought a second battery but the unit is shot. This thing makes all kinds of complicated loud beeping noises that are not easy to stop and do not clearly help you diagnose why it's beeping in the first place.

THE GOOD: Seems to work well. Nice because I only need it to prevent quick outages, not power a big system during a big power failure.

THE BAD: Crappy device design. The base of the device required RIGHT AFTER I bought it to be propped close using a folded up piece of paper to behave like a spring. I didn't drop it or mishandle it but when the battery was ajar in its housing, it would start to beep loudly.

THE LAME: The loud beeping. No way to turn it off when the power is down apart from disabling the battery. Come on now, this is a cheap battery but I expect more from APC.

CONCLUSION: Price is right and it does a pretty good job, despite annoyances.

I purchased two UPS. One failed during the first week. Made a loud pop sound and smelled the good old burn electronics smell. I'm getting it replaced now. Generally I've found APC to be a very good company. I guess some early field failures are to be expected. Should there be other reports such as mine I would suspect that the product has faults.

I bought this some time ago and am just getting around to writing a review. I have to say that it is a fantastic item to own. This is my second APC Battery Backup. The other is the bigger 500.

I just went through a really rough storm last night, and it really showed how great this product really is. The main reason I bought this one, is because I kept having split second power flickers a couple times a day, and it would mess up my DishTv box. I got fed up with that problem and ordered this backup, and it is worth every penny.

I have my Dish satellite box, surround sound, cordless phone, TV, DVD Recorder, answering machine and photo printer plugged in it. The other backup has my PC, printer, table lamp, and DSL modem plugged into it. It can be several seconds before I even know that there is a power outage!

Last night while the whole area was without lights, I was sitting here with a lamp on, using my PC, and still watching TV. I turned everything off once I realized the power was out. I also turned the backups power off after a while to keep the batteries from draining. But what was nice is I could have my table lamp on (and read) for quite a long time, just using the battery backup. (these backups beep once in a while to let you know the power is out and the backups are working.)

I am a loyal fan of these APC Surge + Battery Backups!! I am looking to order another one now, since I have to use a breathing machine while I'm sleeping. I don't like being woke up suffocating because the electric went out and shut my bi-pap down..lol..

If you are in the market for this kind of item, this is the best to get! Hope this helps others make up their minds...
