This review is from: APC BE750BB ES 750VA 10OUT Back-UPS (Electronics)
Great unit. 5 battery/surge protected and 5 surge protected outlets. Separate space for blocks. Coax and phone surge protection for backdoor protection. I have a 725 ES and got this 750 ES too. I also had a small halogen lamp connected and during the last total blackout I really appreciated having fifteen minutes of light when I got home to gather the candles, batteries, etc.

I purchased this UPS for my network attached storage (NAS). The best part about the Back-UPS 750VA is that it can be configured to support a USB link. This means that the UPS will shutdown your computer or NAS (if supported) in the event of a power failure. Pretty cool. Also, please note the dimensions of this unit; it's very large, but then again all UPS units are pretty big!

Works Great for Me,

I bought one of these from Amazon.com recently. It is fairly large in size but still fits under my computer desk. The ethernet surge protection is a handy way to protect my network from whatever surges might come in through my cable modem without inserting something in the path of the coax cable, which might cause some signal loss and affect my cable modem speeds. In a recent thunderstorm here in the midwest the power was knocked out briefly by an especially close lightning strike, but the stuff plugged into the battery backup side of the unit never flickered.

Wow... ITS HUGE,

Its huge and heavier than a small car but its so incredible that I'm planning to buy a second when I can afford it. The first thing you do after removing it from the box is hook up the battery. Turn the unit over and press down on the two release buttons then slide the bottom plate off.Find the unconnected cable and slide it into the terminal then slide the bottom plate back on. Turn the unit back over, plug it in and power it up. Plug anything you don't need to run off battery power on the surge protection only side, anything plugged in on that side will go off in case of a power outtage. Plug your important things like the monitor and PC into the battery back up side. After you let the battery charge up and install the software you can relax knowing you can surf Amazon even while your room-mates are reading by candle light.

Be careful the image is wrong!,

The unit pictured is APC BE750G (newer model) while the unit that is described and that is shipped to you is APC BE750BB (older model). So yes the price is 20 bucks less but you don't get Master Control part and cooler looking unit.

At the price of this APC unit (which provides both back up power and surge protection), you could get a couple of high end surge protectors. Frankly, it's a steal. It even comes with excellent software (already upgraded to support Intel Macs) that will gently shut down the computer based upon the amount of juice left in the battery (according to your settings). Easy, intuitive, and a worthwhile investing to protect your expensive equipment. It has a connection for your cable and/or telephone lines, too.

Works great.,
This review is from: APC BE750BB ES 750VA 10OUT Back-UPS (Electronics)
We bought this item because here in Florida we get daily afternoon thunder storms with plenty of lightning. Often our electricity flickers off for a few seconds and then comes back on. Even with a regular surge protector, when this would happen my wireless router and cable modem would reset and my desktop computer would reboot. Even though not directly affected by the storm, my laptop computers would loose internet connectivity and it would take almost ten minutes for everything to come back online. I'd often have to log into my router from my desktop once it came back online and reset everything. It was a giant pain.
This product has totally eliminated all of that. It's proven itself several times in the few weeks I've owned it. From numerous power flickers to a recent hour without electricity, this battery backup kept everything running. It works like a charm. Also, the internal software works great with Windows VISTA, which is a miracle in itself. The software itself isn't that impressive, but that's not why I bought the unit.

This is a solid well working power backup and surge protector for basic home use. The 750 ES provides power backup and surge protection for five outlets and surge protection for an additional five outlets, as well as for a phone line and coaxial cable. I purchased this to protect my entertainment center, so I haven't tried the software interface. I use a 725 SE to protect my computer system and it has saved it from the many brownouts and blackouts which occur in my area.
