Amazing product that DOES NOT WORK WITH VISTA???, December 7, 2008
This review is from: APC BIOPOD USB Touch Biometric Pod Password Manager (Electronics)
I have had the APC password manager for over 18 months, it is one of the safest, easiest to use and most discreet peripheral's I have ever owned. There is also no need for web based password "manager" software that constantly needs updating or upgrading. My only question for APC is this, why oh why, is there no driver software for Vista? I used this all the time with XP, flawlessly.
It will remember 10 different fingerprints per user(one for each finger) so for example my wife and I can't both use index finger right hand to log in,( most of the websites we visit are the same account) we must use different saved biometric prints. You can have several different users all with their own log on prints and vaults, but as we use "family" accounts we both log into mine with different fingers. Once that is set up (takes about two minutes) each time you log on to a web site in a secure manner, with your user name or email, and password, you right click the tray icon, and the password is memorized in a "vault" under whatever name you give it. Any subsequent visit to that site automatically activates the device which prompts you to "place your finger on the sensor". You can also type a password if necessary but usually a gentle finger placement and scan results in "access granted" and the login completes. Where this really scores for me is the fact that the passwords and logins are stored in the APC vault, in the program files, you can erase cookies, delete temporary files, or even reset your browser, and the information will still be there. Great product, just need and upgrade for Vista. Company website shows no sign of one in the near future. Shame, that would have meant 5 stars.
