This as a high quality item, with plenty high quality plugs that hold tight. I use it with its bigger brother, the BE750G, that is really clever. it monitors the computer power line, and when the consumption drops when the computer goes to sleep, it turns off three controlled outlets as well (leaves the others alone). I have external drives, and it works perfectly, and the computer finds the drives without issue when woken up. You can use these 3 controlled outlets for anything that consumes power or makes noise (my drives do both). It and this Es 650VA, the item being reviewed, are the same but for this feature. With a computer with a lot of devices, they make a perfect pair. Great, great ideas, and very well built, and package design is excellent.

It's so important to protect your computers from power outages and surges. This allows me time to do an orderly shutdown if the power goes out so I don't lose any important information.

Living in an area where power outages are far too commmon, this APC backup has eased the frustration of losing data being worked on when there is a sudden power failure. It allows me to finish what I'm working on and then shut down the computer until the power is back up. The company's reputation and the price were incentives to make the purchase and I'm very pleased.

I live in South Florida where power outages are the norm in the summertime....this back-up is a lifesaver for my computer.....I learned the hard way (pun intended) as my hard drive was recently destroyed by a power surge....thank goodness for Time Machine.

this is the third APC battery backup i have had over the years, i have had two other larger units for my computers, but i have this ES650 unit keeping my two tivo's and my tv safe.
the cable line protectors, and the circuit breaker are a neat feature to have. the rounded corners give it a more modern, updated look.
so far i have not yet needed this unit but that one time when i do, it will be nice to know im protected!

Purchased for my Cable connected PC & telephone. Cable tech recommended not connecting cable through it as it brought the connectivity down to almost no signal, and that the cable company's cables were grounded.

I have owned three APC products and this one has the right amount of back-up plugs with plenty of surge protection. Their products take the scare out of surges and Amazon has the best prices! Buy it!

Ok, here I can come up with more than just 20 filler words for the review.

I used APC's calculator to determine the capacity I needed for a backup power supply for my tower computer and monitor. It recommended three, I purchased this one. To test it after it was installed I pulled the plug from the wall outlet. It was obvious there was not enough amperage to support keeping the hard drive running... A windows 7 system file was corrupted and in the end I had to reformat and reinstall the dozens of programs I had used. At least I had a backup. I will be contacting APC since they request the unit be sent to them and not the retail vendor. If their service is not good it will be coming back to Amazon. I am actually a little amazed, I have had very good luck with APC products and NEVER a problem with anything Amazon sells.

I've bought many APC systems and I've never been let down yet. The shipping was unreal, about 2 days and I had it!!
Will definately buy APC again, and amazon has never let me down yet!!

We have 4 APC BackUPS power supplies in our office, each connected to a computer.
We also have 3 Tripplite UPS units, 2 connected to computers and 1 to our modem, router and network switches.
Today we had an electrical storm and the power failed on 3 of the 4 APC units, causing the attached computers to reboot, losing work that was done and not saved. Neither of the computers connected to Tripplite units rebooted, their power remained constant. Also there was no interruption to the power to our network devices, supplied through a Tripplite.
My conclusion is that Tripplite UPS's work and APC's don't. Three of our APC's are 650VA and one is a 350VA.
I have had similar experiences with other APC units in the past and do not consider them reliable, regardless of how nice they look or what feature set or software they offer.
If you review a UPS without the experience of seeing how it works during a power spike (e.g. lightning storm) or a power outage, you are not providing useful information.
It is also not relevant that the APC units are heavy or sturdy looking. They don't provide continuous power.
