Saved Our Desk Top,

This review is from: APC ENS-USB Ergonomic Notebook Stand with 4-port USB Hub (Personal Computers)
This inexpensive device saved our desk top of heat damage. Our first desk was damaged by the laptops heat; fortunately we were able to return the desk for a new one. This time placing the laptop on the notebook stand and absolutely no problems with the new desk top. Plus the additional USB ports are a blessing to have.

I gave up my home pc. After I bought my laptop I needed a stand for it. I bought this stand for use at home. I tote my notebook to work. When I get home I just put my notebook on this and plug in one USB cable. The rest of my pripherals all plug into the POWERED usb hubs on the back of the stand. This has made my life easy. This keeps my laptop cool and the ability to adjust the height is great. If you have any front ports, then it might be a problem, but a small tradeoff. Another great thing about this stand...it has wheels. The stand rotates in a circular motion so I can turn the laptop to show someone something. I highly recommend this stand, for the few extra dollars more it is best to get this one with the high speed usb ports. Five Stars!!

For dual-monitor environments, you can't beat the Ergonomic Notebook Stand for adjusting your laptop's monitor relative to the other screen.
Owners of laptops with front-loading CD/DVD drives should be cautioned. The Stand has a "Folding Retainer" to keep your laptop from sliding forward, and although it does fold down to provide access to your laptop's front drive and buttons, maneuvering it is awkward. My MacBook Pro gets grumpy when it tries to eject a CD and the folding retainer blocks the disc. A courtesy electric outlet would make this perfect.

I have a medium to large Gateway laptop. The stand is very sturdy and holds my laptop perfectly. This is an excellent product.

I bought the APC ENS-USB Ergonomic Notebook Stand with 4-port USB Hub for my husband to use at work. It is a wonderful addition to a workstation. The stand puts the laptop at just the correct, adjustable level and the 4 USB ports make it handy to add extras to your laptop like keyboard/mouse/printer. Don't hesitate to purchase this dandy little ditty!

Love this stand! It works great for my MacBook. Gives it the air circulation it needs underneath. Love the swivel feature and having the usb hub is a great plus!

After trying several other stands that claimed to be able to hold my behemoth of a laptop without breaking either the laptop or the stand, this one actually does! The USB hub feature really helped with all of my peripherals too. My desk is actually a comfortabl, uncluttered work space at last!

I use this stand all day every day on my desk at work. I have my HP laptop set up next to a 19" flat panel monitor, extending my desktop across both monitors. I take my laptop home every night and I just have to unplug the monitor, one ubs plug, and the power supply from the laptop. I did buy a 2nd power supply so I could have one at home and one at the office (purchased a universal power supply with travel adapters for less than the oem hp power supply). I have a wireless keyboard and mouse sensor hooked up to the stand. This does a great job of turning your laptop into a mobil desktop. No complaints after 4 months of use, and the price is right.

The short answer is I'm pretty happy with it. Although I would prefer if it would raise/lower straight vertically instead of tilting to achieve the effect, it does the job. The MacBook (Pro) screen doesn't tilt back far enough to use the highest/steepest setting, but with the base unit height the next-highest setting is good for me. (raised 7 inches, also the recently announced "late 2008" MacBooks have screens which tilt back further) I would have also preferred if the raise/tilt was a continuous adjustment, but this provides a series of discrete locking positions instead... good enough, I can appreciate this probably gives a more rigid base.
The USB plugs let me keep mouse/keyboard/hard drives/etc. mounted at the desktop, although the plugs seem a little "cheap" (wiggle around a bit, seems like it might be kind of a loose connection) The position of the USB plugs doesn't quite match up with the pictures on the APC website... all four are in the back, whereas the APC site shows 2 in back and 1 on each side... no biggie, just FYI One cute touch is it has wheels on the bottom so the stand can spin in place (but doesn't slide around out of position). So it's easy to reposition the display for different viewing angles (e.g. show an officemate something on your screen). One thing that wasn't originally an expected outcome is that I've started using a dual-headed setup. Previously it was too awkward to position a second monitor with the laptop, but now that the laptop is at a good height with a consistent location, I've setup another screen next to it, which makes a much more productive environment. The main downside is that the base of the riser comes forward further than I'd like, so if using the laptop as the "main screen" with a keyboard in place, the screen winds up a little further away than I like. Also, the riser isn't really designed to let you stow things under the laptop, so it doesn't function as a shelf to reclaim the desk space underneath. Relatively minor points however, you're not going to do much better on either issue with other choices I've seen on the market, so I'd still recommend this one.

I was unaware that a keyboard & mouse would be needed as the product raises the laptop too high to use the smartpad. Since the laptop sits so high, it also made it slide down and nearly fall off.
