I replied to the email and explained the unit was unusable in the United States.

I ordered this unit and while preparing to set it up I noticed that there is a switch on the back to set the "input voltage" for the unit.

Can't use this item as an all purpose voltage regulator only came with the cable to hook up to a computer outlet.

First of all I would like to say something: Amazon is an international online superstore (Earth biggest selection), I hope Amazon agree with me on this, so the point is, why do you expect to find products designed for the states only?

The item part number is [LE1200I] I for international if you want the US version go for [LE1200].

Please allow me to give you an advice:
"You should always check with the manufacturer web site first before buying and pick the product you want, write down the exact part number and then see if you can find it at Amazon."

Anyway, The APC LE1200I is a very good product, it protects you from under-voltage, over-voltage, black-outs, brown-outs, surges, spikes and provides EMI/RFI noise filtration. The product accepts 200V-250V and can output 220V, 230V and 240V (selectable).
It's continues power output is 1,200 VA, it can stand up to 5.2 Amp at rated voltage. There are front leds to indicate voltage condition (Low - Correct - High) and there is a master on/off switch. Also there is an auto thermal push fuse, so if you overload the unit it will just pop out the button and then you can press it back in after it cools down.

The down part is: At the time I purchased this unit I couldn't find line conditioners from APC which provide more than 1200 VA. By today's terms this is low power for a sound system, PC, power amplifier, etc. I wish they would make 2K VA and more.

From 2011 until Summer 2013, we used three of these in our place in Mozambique to protect our sensitive electronics from the frequent (several times a day) surges and brownouts that were common during our time there. All three performed like champs-- while neighbors and friends all lost electronics during that timeframe, nothing was lost that we had protected with this device.

Several things for a new buyer to keep in mind:

* This is not/not a UPS. It does its best to bring the voltage up or down to the level you indicate on the back. If is powered only by the wall outlet, so if that goes out, the device goes out, too.

* The outlets on the back are universal C13 outlets. (C13 is what the outlet shape is referred to as.) It looks like the outlet you might see on the back of your computer's power supply (and was extremely common on older computer power supplies.) Why? THink about it a little-- those of us using 220/230/240 electricity have a wide variety of plugs we use: the two small pin European ones, the three pig pins in India and South Africa, those unusual three pin Swiss plugs, etc. The best way to handle this situation? Use a standard C13 outlet-- something that's been common for decades.

* The best hidden advantage to the C13 outlets? Search on Amazon for "C13" and take a look at all the different adapters and cords you can buy. Among them are some that have standard US NEMA 5-15R outlets. That means you can easily use this with your US electronics that are universal voltage (that handle typically 90v-240v.) Your from-the-US device that can handle 220 (laptop power supply, etc.) plugs directly into the C13 adapter, which you connect to the back of this, and presto! Your device now has clean, conditioned power going into it.

The APC LE1200I 1200VA Voltage Regulator (I=International for use with input voltage of 200V-250V.
I own two of the LE1200I and one LE1200 (USA version).

These units are made in the Philippines not China just so you know.

This unit protects your sensitive electronic equipment (computers,TV and TV live streaming media players, home entertainment systems, stereo systems, cable box, and a host of other electronics from under-voltage, over-voltage, black-outs, brown-outs, surges, spikes, lightening and provides EMI/RFI noise filtration. The product accepts 200V-250V and can output 220V, 230V and 240V (selectable).
It has a continuous rated power output of 1200VA and up to 5.2 Amps at rated voltage.
I use two of these units for my laptop computers and its various accessories and one for my Home Entertainment System.
This unit is normally warm to the touch, ambient air can also affect the degree of warmth but this is normally not an issue.
Please note you should not connect an additional power strip with surge protection to this unit (read the instructions).

Here is how to convert the APC LE1200I rear IEC320 C14 connectors for electronics other than the power supply of a desktop PC.
You will need from 1 to 4 of the following adapters/cords or a combination of them depending on your needs.
There is an adapter version and a corded version.
The cord version comes in various lengths of 1, 3, 6 or more feet in length. The adapter version is approx. 3 inches in length and very sturdy, it will not come out easily. You will feel a definite click when you properly insert the cords or adapters.
All of these can be found on Amazon from SF Cable.
