Having endured a recent lengthy notebook repair for my daughter I began looking for phoneline and power protection. She was home for the summer and plugged into a bedroom phone line and the storm did the rest. This product is a MUST have for the mobile notebook user. It is easy to insert into your notebook power adapter and it protects the phone modem also(after 3 good storms no problems). The price makes it even more attractive. Notebook owners should GET ONE!

I bought this surge protector because I bought a similar surge protector for my previous laptop and it worked well. The Pro has a better connected equipment warranty, which I think is worth paying a little bit more for.

The only downside is that Dell changed the shape and design of the power brick on their new laptops, so this surge protector does not strap on to the power brick as nicely as the old surge protector I have attaches to the power brick for my old laptop, but that's not APC's fault.

I had to go with a trustworthy brand name for this item considering the cost of my laptop. That and the $5000 replacement warranty if anything is damaged while using the unit made this a no-brainer. The weight is negligible and the in-line design is far more convenient that a multi plug surge adapter. I have no need for the phone line protection but its good to have just in case. At the price you can't possibly go wrong with this item. A definite must have for your notebook/laptop.

This offers me the protection I need in a small form factor. I recommend it for mobile professionals.

For those of you concerned about your laptop power protection, this is the right product, lightweight and backed up APC warranty.

This surge protector is really small and handy. . . it even fits the casing for the power supply in my notebook bag. i take it with me everywhere i go and it has worked well for me. it has given me a sense of security that my vaio is protected for electrical surges at all times.

This device is excellent, if you have a laptop with a two prong connector. It, however, will not work, if your laptop has a three prong connector for the power adapter. There is nothing on Amazon's site or on J&R's site that indicates that this device is for the two pronged connectors. I would think that most new laptops, like my new one, has a three prong connector. J&R dragged its feet, when I asked for a refund.
