I just found out that APC was bought my Schneider Electric (like 6 months ago), so when I received this product I thought it wasn't "Genuine APC". I emailed APC and told them about this and they acted like they had never heard of Schneider Electrics. So I returned this product and bought it from a more expensive vendor only to receive the EXACT SAME battery "APC by Schneider Electric". So I call APC up this time only to have the announcement say "Welcome to APC by Schneider Electric". The previous reviews on this site led me to believe this was not a genuine APC product. This battery is a Genuine RBC by APC (or at least the one I received was.) So, yes, buy this product over the ones from other web sites as you'll save a lot of money and receive Genuine APC RBC....

We ordered the APC battery for our old APC 1000 Smart UPS. Price was better than the APC site. It matched our unit fine. It also came with a box and mailing label to return the old one, which is nice. Arrived quickly. No problems ordering. Thanks Amazon.

Nothing too special here, just a replacement battery. I ordered it for my Smart-UPS SU1000. I tend to stick to OEM products (I find them more reliable), and that's what this is. The previous battery in the UPS died after about 5 years of use, and this replacement has worked just fine over the past 6 months.

The battery comes with a free shipping label, to be used to return the old battery for replacement. I was worried about trying to figure out where to recycle the old battery, so the free return label was much appreciated.

Installation is pretty easy. I had to look up online how to open up my UPS, but once I did that, snapping in the new battery was pretty easy. Just disconnect two wires, slide out the old battery, slide in the new battery, and reconnect the two wires.

Oh, and Amazon's free shipping is quite the deal, considering that the battery weighs close to 20 pounds.

Only after receiving it did I realize why.
It is NOT AN AUTHENTIC APC battery, but a third party KNOCKOFF!!!!!!

This is manufactured by "ABC" batteries and NOT APC.

The image on the site is an APC manufactured battery, but that is not what you get.
Very misleading, basically "FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!!"

Does it make a difference, YES.
My last APC battery lasted 7 years in a SMART UPS 1000.
The first and last time I ordered a knockoff brand, IT DIDN'T LAST A YEAR!!!!

Be careful what you order from these guys because you don't know what you're getting.

The battery received was not an APC battery. I don't know if I am having a problem with the UPS or the battery, but according to the UPS's display, the battery is not taking a charge. I gave this 3-stars because I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that its the UPS that's faulty, not the battery. But I'm not happy with the bait and switch that the battery received was not the APC battery described and illustrated.

If you are replacing your UPS battery, go w/ this OEM APC replacement battery. Expensive as you know what, but in the end, worth it.

I have a SU1000, original battery lasted ~4 years. I foolishly opted for an off-brand replacement, purchased Oct 08. Now dead 11 months later. It was 1/2 the cost and definitely not worth it.

Pony up the bucks and go w/ APC.

The battery is labeled APC (by Schneider Electric), and came with APC documentation. Installation was dead simple, and it works just fine.

No return shipping label was provided for the old battery. Instead, all there is is a document referencing APC's battery disposal website, and an admonition to recycle the battery. This differs from what you get when you buy directly from APC, and may account for the lower price at Amazon. If you have a Staples nearby, you can take the old battery there.

BEWARE, there is an issue with this listing 'cause not all of the sellers are offering the Genuine APC OEM battery packs -- some are manufacture their own and you can find various listings on Amazon that will show you the battery they sell but listed as a RBC6 Equivalent Replacement Battery Cartridge.

As far as the battery I received, it seems fine. Same size, fits just fine in my SmartUPS 1000 and the folks are personable and more than willing to stand behind their products! Shipping is quick, price is right and all... it's just NOT as Amazon has it listed here... it's NOT ASIN: B00004Z8BC as the listing states! This is misleading and I've submitted a correction to the Amazon site - we'll see how this pans out. The seller says it's Amazon who has mislisted the item and have asked Amazon to correct it. Also, I'm stuck disposing of my old APC battery since there is no PrePaid return shipping label I'm used to receiving from APC purchases :-(

Battery was received in short order - replaced old battery in about 45 minutes - old battery had swelled from being bad for over a week until replacement arrived. Required partially disassembling smart UPS to dislodge old battery and reassembling before sliding in new battery.
Will probably have to replace again in 2-3 years - normal.
BTW - price at Amazon was less money than at APC.

UPS was beeping too much and occasionally cut power from the computer. The codes said it was time to get a new battery.

Many years ago (our UPS is around 10 years old), we tried an off-brand replacement battery. Unfortunately, it eventually leaked and "grew" in size, which made it very difficult to remove.

After that, we decided to only purchase genuine APC replacement batteries. They last longer and are not prone to leak, expand, and get stuck in the UPS. This one has worked great. Highly recommended for our Back-UPS Pro 1000.
