Good puzzle game,

Ever played Wetrix on the N64 or PC or Wetrix+ for Dreamcast? Well, this is the sequel to Wetrix. Basically you are giving a square playing area and you have to build barriers using blocks so the rain and water that falls from the sky won't fall off the board. If too much water falls off the board then your game is over. The game seems easy at first but can get very challenging due to hazards such as earthquakes, the water becoming frozen or a bomb dropping. If you like puzzle games, it is worth getting.

Okay first point the controls are a pain... until you get used to them. Seriously the training mode almost got me aggravated enough to find out how far the Cd could fly. (That undershoot, overshoot correct problem mentioned in another review). After I got the hang of the controls though the game became stangly addictive (I played all the way throught the first 4 stages in one night). The game is very tetris like, but the addition of water and earthquakes makes a drasticly different game (in a good way I'm sick of Tetris). The game itself can be beaten with practice (the boss monsters aren't to hard to block once you've learned the scoring tricks), but the real challange is to improve your score enough to become "Master" in all worlds and unlock the 5th stage. Two player mode was underdone (no computer opponent option that I found, and it takes a while to get someone used enough to the game that they can challange you, let them play a few hours first, that lineing up this is the hard part in this game). Only other flaw was the fixed camera angle (when i built mountains to close to the screen it was hard to see the rest of my board) and no the ability to switch to a view of the litte dudes does not help (it looks nice but worthless)

if you are into puzzle games and want to play something different from bust-a-move...then this is the game...it's a nice game to get to round out your ps2 game collection...especially for when you have your friends over...one thing...you have to pass the training mode to play the story and vs modes...which is good since it will familiarize you with the controls...but tedious for those who just want to start playing...

This is a great game on the verge of distinction.
Super choice for family fun. Puzzle format. Multiple player. Problem solving strategies, decent educational value and so fun! Simple. Action/violence junkies need not apply. Age 5-105

This could have been a decent puzzle game. The game mechanics are solid, it has a good sense of time pressure but not to the point of forcing you to plow forward without thinking, and the sound effects and graphics are adequate to the style of game. But the controls... oh man, the controls! It is next to impossible to quickly and accurately position a piece (the game superficially looks a bit like Tetris in that you rotate and drop pieces). You always end up overshooting, correcting your overshoot, correcting your correction's overshoot, etc. And even when you have a piece where you want it, you can never be quite sure it's quite where you *need* it because the fixed camera angle obscures enough of the board that you can't always tell exactly where the piece is going to land. If they'd done two simple things -- make the camera angle adjustable and make the directional buttons move the pieces one grid cell at a time rather than accelerating them in a particular direction -- this game would be a blast. As it is, though, it's an exercise in frustration.

Wet puzzle action,

The concept for this game is unique to Playstation. You have to build lakes and get your land to hold water until you evaporate it with fireballs to score points. I agree with most of the other posters in that the overshoot/undershoot thing is hard to get used to, and that the fixed camera angle is an issue, however the Zoom feature is helpful. Worth a rental to decide if you're going to buy it.

Wtf!? That what you will say when you turn this game on. You can rip out your insides of your ps3 (who wouldn't want to at this time eh?) you will understand how the insides of the ps3 work before you will this game. Not really puzzles. Kinda like being brainwashed

No overhead view, Oversensitive Controls,

Imagine 3-D tetris without an overhead view, rather a skewed 45 degree angle type view. It is really hard to see how the pieces land on the map, especially because they have deceptive shadows. Oh, and the controls are hyper-sensitive meaning you will be over-correcting and re-correcting until you mess up.
I confess, I put the game down after failing the first tutorial level ten times in a row, because the blocks kept falling one space left or right at the last second every single time! If you can overcome the steep learning curve for the badly programmed controls, this looks like an awesome puzzle game. I never got that far. It's too bad the programmers didn't allow map rotation, turning off of shadows, or overhead views. Great concept, the execution failed. I recommend you avoid this game unless you can play it first. If you can get through all the tutorial levels, it's clicked for you, you'll like it. Otherwise (as in my case), dozens of other fun puzzle games are also out there. If you can't get it in a half-hour, this game isn't for you.

AQUA AQUA is the sequel to Wetrix (Nintendo 64). Players use various L, T, I and O shaped pieces to sculpt a landscape and create pools of water. Once enough pools are created, use fireballs to evaporate the water and score points. Let too much water drip off the edges, and it's game over. This game is a lot of fun and is an ideal 'zone out' game: once you get things built up and get into a groove, it's easy to play for a long time and rack up huge scores.
The game isn't much more complex than that. Bonuses are available for creating deeper pools, burning off pools in multiple areas on the board, and containing a large amount of water at once. There are some dangers as well: ice cubes that freeze your lakes, 'bomb' pieces that blast holes in the floor, an earthquake that destroys walls when too much land is present, and giant creatures that periodically appear to wreak havoc on your work. Still, these things only enhance the game experience by providing some extra spice. One really nice thing about the game: the music is excellent. Each stage has its own ambient electronica track that is great and helps the game tremendously. I wish there had been a separate soundtrack release! Other sound effects fit the game well enough, though the voices are hyper-cutesy. (This is a completely different style from the N64 version, though the mechanics are still the same) My main gripe is with the controls. Things would be fine except the little piece shadow is misleading and isn't actually shaped like the piece you're placing. Also, the joystick is overly sensitive. It's very frustrating to spend a bunch of time lining up a block exactly where you want it only to find that it didn't behave like the shadow said it would. One other annoyance is that on some levels, the colors make it difficult to tell how high the land is. It can be easy to miss tiny gaps where water is leaking out. Still, the game is a lot of fun and a great puzzle game. At less than $10, puzzle fans everywhere should check it out.

Best Puzzler Out!!,

"Aqua Aqua?!?" I first questioned the title of the game when I heard but when I started playing I soon figured not to judge a game by its name. My first impressions while playing is another mediocre game with simple gameplay and no difficulty. Boy was I wrong. This game is a fantastic representation of what a puzzle game is all about. Its action sequences and puzzles fit for everyone. The difficulty can be set from 4 different settings and each are reasonable. The colors and graphics are a manifest of beauty. The gameplay passes even those of Final Fantasy X. I cannot compare this game to any other because its just that great. I love the characters. They might look cute but they are deadly with instinct. This game is a gorgeous puzzle game plain and simple. Once you pick up the controller you will love Aqua Aqua. You'll never play another game for several months if not years. Remember its a rare game with not many offshoots. Get the game while you can. A rare collectors game and a classic puzzler all in one. This game is a must buy for any gamer!!
