An Excellent Know How Guide,
By Cerius Balance (Dallas Area, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The AR-15 Complete Owner's Guide (Paperback)
Is this complete owner's guide truely out of date? No It is not. The mechanics and the operation and the maintenance of the AR15 have not changed at all. This book was written to give an overview of what the AR15/M16 is all about including accessory options. It, however is not a current accessories guide of the latest and greatest items on the market which the above critics seem to be judging it on. The two main purposes of this guide are:
1. Help you determine how you will use the gun and what configuration you would be interested in purchasing. Yes, a shoppers guide. 2. How to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain it once you have it. Will you need additional information? Yes! Use the internet for that research. Start by googling ar15 accessories, ar15 retailers, tactical retailers, ar15 manufacturers, etc...

This review is from: The AR-15 Complete Owner's Guide (Paperback)
This book is largely obsolete, because it was originally written while the so-called Assault Weapons Ban was in effect, and it doesn't take into account everything that's happened since the AWD sunsetted. Instead of actually revising the text, there are addenda for the 2nd and 3rd editions.
This is handy to have around as a printed reference, but anybody looking for an introduction to the AR-15 would be better off getting the U.S. Army manaul (which this book largely reproduces) and reading up at [...].

Save your money,

This review is from: The AR-15 Complete Owner's Guide (Paperback)
I recently purchased this book and it did not take long to realize I had wasted my money. This book is so outdated that much of the information does not apply. If you have never picked up an AR15 this book may be of some use to you but your money could be better spent on many of the more current books on this subject.

AR-15 Guide,

This review is from: The AR-15 Complete Owner's Guide (Paperback)
I have found this book a very useful tool on the ins and outs of the AR-15 rifle. Very comprehensive, and very detailed as to assembly and disassembly. Includes helpful hints on shooting the AR-15 for fun or competition.
