5.0 out of 5 stars This is why I love world music, March 8, 2006

I can't remember how I came across Arash, but I'm so glad I did.

It's not often you come across an album that is fun from start to finish. This is one of those albums. A solid blend of Eastern themes and Western beats. Can't find one song I don't like.

Vocals are solid, with good partnerships with guests. I don't know who Helena is, but her voice is haunting.

For the Bollywood fans out there, "Boro Boro" appeared in the film "Bluffmaster."

"Music is my Language" leans a little heavy on the club beats and the message is a little heavy handed but you will warm to it.

"Temptation" is, I think, based on a song I've heard Khaled & Alabina do, "Habibi ya nour el ein" which Arash updates, adds new lyrics and an awesome arrangement.

This is absolutely addictive music.

I can't wait to blast this out my car windows as I drive around the city.

I wish this young artist great success.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, December 5, 2005
This review is from: ARASH (Audio CD)
This is truly one of the best Persian CD's ever. I work at Dillard's Department Store and the manager loved it so much that he decided to play it. The customers love it and are constantly asking who is it and where can they buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just fun., May 10, 2006

The leadoff singles, "Boro Boro" and "Tike Tike Kardi" are nearly the same song - same bassline, similar structure, hook laden...but they're awfully catchy. I've had Boro Boro stuck in my head for about 3 months now.

The rest of the album is surprisingly strong and more diverse than the two singles would have you believe. Ranging from balladic R&B - and thankfully not the recycled 80's kind that often dominates "world fusion" records - to desi-hop, to straightup eurodance, there's a nice energy on the record. And, I suspect (hindered by my complete inability to speak farsi) a bit of tongue-in-cheek humour.

All in all, it's a great and varied bit of fusion music - mixing influences from India, Persia, Europe and the US into a whole that is surprisingly cohesive.

5.0 out of 5 stars the gems you can find if only look around, December 19, 2006

This album is the perfect driving music that keeps me going so well because it can be listened to without picking a track or swapping discs. It's a fresh mix of traditional sounds and new beats with beautiful vocals. You simply can't go wrong, no matter what music fancies you.

5 tracks(boro boro, temptation, baskon, music is my language, behnaz) from this cd were on the playlist at a hookah bar I frequented near San Jose, and after about a year I finally found this cd in nov. '06, absolutely thrilled me to add it to the collection. It's the most played disc for a reason. Because I liked it so much, I also went and purchased the remix album, Crossfade, but it isn't worth a dime; this is where it's at.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Album, July 12, 2006
This review is from: ARASH (Audio CD)
I was very impressed with this cd. I've had it for a while now, but I still love to listen to it. It's one of those cds that you can put on and enjoy the whole thing, rather than flipping through to the good tracks. I always have one of his songs stuck in my head. Tike Tike Kardi (Payami Lounge) is one of my favorite songs and its quite different from the first track, which is also great.
