5.0 out of 5 stars Great product to make extra space in your tub
I've been to many hotels that now incorporate the "bowed" shower rod in their baths. I enjoy the extra space and feel of luxury they give.
There is the typical round rod design that many use and at a couple of them, they used the ARC rod.
I was nearly sure I wanted the round type, due to the ARC being "insubstantial" and wobbly at one hotel in which I stayed...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Product.
Bought this product after reading several reviews. I put it in the guest bath with a five foot tub. Since this was a new home, I had no reference points to help install this item. It took about an hour. It turned out great and I was pleased. It was just what I was looking for.
I tried the other one (I ordered 2) in my master shower stall. I cut the bar to fit, only...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product to make extra space in your tub, January 11, 2007

I've been to many hotels that now incorporate the "bowed" shower rod in their baths. I enjoy the extra space and feel of luxury they give.
There is the typical round rod design that many use and at a couple of them, they used the ARC rod.
I was nearly sure I wanted the round type, due to the ARC being "insubstantial" and wobbly at one hotel in which I stayed.
When I got down to placing the order however, I switched my mind for a couple reasons. Firstly, I realized the abuse that the hotel items are subject to. Little ones dangling off the curtains, guys probably trying to do chin ups off them. All the idiocy that people do when something isn't their own.
The other factor that led me to the ARC is installation. With the round type of curtain rod you need to trim off of both ends to ensure the 'curve' is properly placed, should you need to shorten the rod. With the ARC, if you need to shorten it (for a shorter tub or to reduce the amount of "bow" extending into your bathroom) one only needs to trim one end. It seems like a small point, but one I considered.
The item arrived while I was at my mothers and I quickly installed it. NOTE: If you have ceramic tiles or similar type materials you'll need to pick up a masonry drill bit. Installation was quick (give yourself 1/2 hr or so) It is VERY solid and I believe the hookless shower curtains operate more smoothly than on the typical round design bar. If only I owned instead of rented, I'd have an ARC shower rod in my place in a heartbeat!

5.0 out of 5 stars 30 minute installation!, June 1, 2007

I just finished installing The Arc a few minutes ago. I timed the process just for fun. It took me a total of 30 minutes to take down the old shower rod, drill and install The Arc. Then add ten minutes to clean up and rehang the shower curtain. The Arc looks great and is nice and sturdy.

Advice: you do need a cheap masonry bit for your drill, no biggie. While at the hardware store, get a small tube of silicone caulk to plug the holes from the old rod.

One discovery: standard shower curtain hooks work even better and move smoother on The Arc than on rod-style hangers! You don't need the fancy shower curtains.

Update: been using it for over three years now. Still great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Shower curtain rod saves day, March 17, 2006

We have a narrow tub/shower, and had a glass sliding door. The water was leaking out under the door and under the tile floor causing lots of problems. We stayed at a hotel that had this shower curtain rod. It bows out in the center, and gives you lots of elbow room in the tub. We were happy to find it on Amazon. It was very easy to install. No more leaking water, more room in the shower, and we added a pretty shower curtain to spruce up our bath.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great shower rod..... outside the box solution., December 13, 2006

I love the appearance of this shower rod. Installation was very simple, and clear instructions were provided, despite what one of the other reviewers pointed out. I would say that I would recommend making sure that you are screwing it into studs or wood blocking, as supporting it with drywall anchors may not be a good long term solution.

Love this shower bar! looks great and makes the tub feel a lot roomier. It is very solid once it is installed. Installation was pretty straightforward, although I had a few glitches figuring out how best to drill into my fibreglas reinforced acrylic tub surround without leaving any visible holes.

Have seen the other brand of curved shower bar installed and our ARC looks much nicer and is sturdier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great look & added shower room!, April 23, 2007

We recently remodeled the main bath and added a shower over the tub. We LOVE the ARC Shower bar! It looks great and those extra inches of elbow room are absolutely wonderful! Not sure how we ever used the conventional rods in past years. I recommend the new curved rods to everyone! And the ARC shower bar is thin and flat instead of round which we felt was more streamline looking. Was easy to install.

If you want two shower curtains one inside and one outside it is possible to install 2 of these bars - one set of brackets a little bit above the other - or side by side (I did it both ways). One bar can be cut (hacksaw) a little shorter to provide a different arc (assuming your tub size is less than 60 inches). I installed one pair for a 58 inch tub in my home and another pair in a mobilehome with a 54 inch tub. If you do this, make several small cuts and see what works. You don't want to cut off too much so there's no arc, but just enough difference to allow the curtains hooks to pass each other. This Company also provides various types of connectors which should cover most installation needs.

I first saw The Arc shower bar in a hotel, and I was amazed with the extra shower space. I thought..hmm...It would be neat if I could have the shower bar in my home. At that moment, I vowed I would get one. I searched the internet. I found it on Amazon. I placed an order, received it quickly in the mail, and installed it. I am so pleased!!! Thanks Amazon.

I tried the other one (I ordered 2) in my master shower stall. I cut the bar to fit, only to realize the 'arc' made the shower curtain stay outside the shower, thus getting the floor wet.
I recommend this product for tubs/showers with more than a 6 inch lip on the tub/shower.
