A Must for Special Parents,
By Diana (San Jose , California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The ARC Family Diaries (Paperback)
I am the parent of a young man who has cerebral palsy. He has many challenges and as a result, his parents do also. I found the book outstanding for many reasons. I liked reading about other parents challenges and rewards found in parenting a special child. It is a lonely road to walk and it helps knowing other walk the same path. I found their accounts uplifting. It was especially good because you had included parents of every age child. You also included reviews written by siblings. I think this is a very important area to consider. When you parent a special child, the other children are affected in divers ways, both to the advantage and to the disadvantage. It helps for parents to read the sibling accounts and I think it would be great for siblings that are old enough, to read the book as well. I feel it is a "must read" for a "special family." The accounts of the caregivers in the end section were also excellent. I think they give aspects of what we as parents experience daily. It is an excellent book.
