Product Description

Style: Hybrid II

Unmatched Cooling Performance The Hybrid II 120 combines air and liquid cooling technologies for an extremely efficient cooling solution with 320 Watts ideal for gamers and computer enthusiasts. Backside Cooler for Highest Efficiency ARCTIC has developed and patented a back side cooler for unparalleled VRM and RAM cooling performance. It offers efficient cooling for RAM and voltage regulators and thus does not just allow higher clock rates but mainly increases the graphics card's service life. Even Better Cooling Performance with Liquid Cooling Solution This high efficiency liquid cooler installed on the GPU with award winning ARCTIC MX4 thermal paste will lower the temperature of even the most powerful GPU. The heat exchanger maximizes the water contact surface to quickly dissipate heat. The Hybrid II 120 is maintenance free. Virtually Silent Its low noise impeller and patented fan holder ensures the fan is ultra quiet even under full load. Thanks to the PWM control, the fan speed adjusts according to the GPU temperature and thus the noise level remains at an absolute minimum. Multi Compatibility The Hybrid II 120 features a versatile mounting system that allows this cooler to be the most compatible yet. The compact 120mm PWM fan fits in virtually any case, internal or external. New Fan Controller An improved fan controller and the use of additional filters guarantee a smooth operation with both NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards. Through software, the temperature fan speed curve can be adjusted. You get the temperature and noise level exactly where you want it to be.

Yes, installation was complicated, but if you don't rush it, it's fine.

I had a issue with my EVGA 550TI getting really hot. (80C ) I have 2 in SLI configuration with each card hitting 80C the inside of my PC case was becoming a oven. I bought 2 of these units put them on an now each card gets up around 35 C. I posted a picture of the radiators an coolers mounted in my case on here. Cooler was not to hard to install. I will agree with others when they say for the price it seems "cheap" for the price that is paid for it.

Make sure you have a clean work area, and lay everything out, have a laptop or tablet/smartphone handy for YouTube videos as well. Check and recheck to make sure you get everything right the first time. Those was the most unforgiving setup I have gone through recently. Don't have it installed on my card yet, will update review once I get this thing burned in.

If you want a great closed loop solution that will fit almost any video card from the last 5 years, this is it. However if you're looking for something plug and play, you're SOL.

****UPDATE****

This thing stays quiet and keeps my gpu at ambient temps idle, 26-29C, when really pushing my gtx680 it gets to around 60C, and that is after hours of hard gaming. Worth the time it took to install, I like quiet computers and this cooler is waaay quieter than the hair dryer that came with my 680. A must buy if you have the tech know how and the patience.

This is a very nice closed loop system for your graphics card. I bought this from the other guy much cheaper, 99% of the time I buy from amazon. I put this on my GTX 560 and noticed a huge difference, at least 22c less when playing games, yes overclocked. Few things to take note. First make sure your case has the room and you take your time with the heat sinks and such. Pay attention to the 4 options they give you for airflow. I used option C for the best GPU cooling. Takes about 20 minutes.
Here is some of the information that is included that is not mentioned above.

It has a nice copper cold plate.
Can hardly hear the fans but did switch to the SP 120mm cooler master for the rad.
Maintenance-free closed-loop system.
All fans PWM-controlled.
Has a 2 year warranty.

Compatibility:

AMD Radeon: HD 7870, 7850, 6970, 6950, 6870, 6850, 6790, 6770, 5870, 5850,
5830, 4890, 4870, 4850

NVIDIA GeForce: GTX 680, 670, 580, 570, 560Ti, 560 SE, 560, 550Ti, 480, 470,
465, 460 SE, 460, GTS 450

This is a great product, I'm sure the price will come down as it just came out July 27th. I paid $169 and have no regrets. Would do it again in a second. I highly recommend this if your a hard core gamer or have a hot running graphics card.

I applied my Accelero Hybrid to an MSI GTX 560Ti Twin Frozr.

The loudest device in my system is now my hard drive with it's seek noise. The radiator fan is tied in to the analog fan control for the other two case fans. (Previously three, but the radiator/fan assembly took the place of my rear case fan)

Under load, at the lowest fan setting, the card hits about the same temps (60-65) as it did with the stock fans, but without the fan spinup. With thee fan control set to high, it drops drastically to 40-45.

Yes, installation was complicated, but if you don't rush it, it's fine.

Although it does take a while to add this to your video card, once it is together it seems to work nicely. I just put it in yesterday, and my video card temp dropped about 10-30c. My card was overheating on the warm days here, so I have to wait and see if it happens again.

This cooler has certainly lowered temps on my VisonTek R9 290 Reference card. But it certainly wasnt easy to install.
The hardest part was installing the heatsink on the back, Maybe I misplaced the cooling pads but the heatsink didnt exactly fit the card, the claps used to hold it down bulged and I had to leave one off so I could fit it into the PCI express slot.

The fan is very quite, even at 1300 RPM (fastest setting)

Temps before with reference cooler: 94C and major throttling.

Temps after water cooler install: 57C max with cooler fan set to 100%

Temps using water cooler with recommended fan curve: 68C @ 50% max fan speed.

Oh and I have my card OC'd to 1050 core and 1400 memory. This is valid for all of the above results. Im sure the temps would be lower if I left it at stock clocks.

My case is a midtower and already could hardly fit the R9 290 so I knew any aftermarket fan cooler wouldnt fit, Thus I went with this option. It certainly does what it is designed to do and allows guaranteed OC'ing headroom.

R9 290 VisonTek reference from eBay: $220
Water cooler : $120

Total cost : $340 for better than GTX 780 performance and guaranteed cool temps.

Considering full liquid cooling solutions for GPUs start around $300 (after all components are purchased), requires installation pre-planning, runs the risk of leaking if installed incorrectly, and must be routinely refilled, the Arctic Accelero Hybrid II-120 is a budget alternative that avoids much of that hassle.

Pros
--------

Significantly reduces the GPU temperature on some video cards compared to the stock fans.

The supplied fan runs quieter than some stock fans and plugs directly into the GPU fan controller on the video card, allowing for fan curve control via software.

The rear heat sink plate is a nice addition to this model of the Arctic Accelero Hybrid cooler because it successfully draws out heat from the voltage regulator and VRAM chips.

The video card can be reverted to its original state with no lasting marks, thus preserving its warranty.

Cons
--------

For optimal cooling, the plastic insert separating the back of the video card from the heat sink plate needs to be cut so that the back of the VRAM and voltage regulator chips are exposed. As you need to use a sharp knife or scalpel to do this, care must be taken to avoid injury (or ruining the plastic insert).

The thermal pads can damage small components on the back of the card if the heat sink plate is over tightened.

On some PC cases, the supplied mounting rail doesn't line up properly and may prevent other PCI/AGP devices from being secured correctly.

Conclusion
--------

I use this on my EVGA GeForce GTX770 2GB Super Clocked ACX and it works brilliantly (using 2 x 120 mm after market fans in push-pull configuration).
