4.0 out of 5 stars great product!!! April 28, 2011

Before this headset, I had the Motorola S9, which I exclusively used for gym purposes. I got a solid 2 years out of the S9's. here's a quick comparison of the 2 products.

Motorola S9
-cool design, feels rugged. lasted me 2.5 years before the buttons crapped out on me. The earpieces didn't quite fit in my ear canal. The battery life wasn't the greatest - toward the end of its life, I would use it for about 3 gym sessions before I would have to recharge it.
-signal was so-so. The headphones would cut out intermittently for no apparent reason. Frustrating.
-sound quality: definitely content with it, didn't blow me away but was perfect for the gym. Sometimes heard a little distortion at higher volumes.

Arctic Sound P311
-initial impression: boy these felt cheap! I opened them up and immediately commented on the fact that the case felt higher quality than the phones. The phones were light, the buttons felt of a cheap plastic build. BUT the padding that goes against the ears did seem well made, and make them really comfortable to wear.
-after 2 weeks of use, I truly fell in love with them. I realized that although they felt like cheap plastic, I could actually picture them holding up to quite some abuse. Maybe this is attributable to the simple design of the buttons. I've been using them exclusively at the gym and they stay on the head very well.
-sound quality: pretty good. Didn't blow me away, but the more I used them the more I thought the sound improved. Absolutely content with the sound for the gym and for casual listening.
-battery life: WOAH. Blows my old motorola S9's away. I still haven't charged them yet, and I have probably 12+ hours of use on them. This was one of the main reasons why I chose these phones over the Motorola S305's.
-bluetooth connection: PHENOMENAL. The only time the music has cut out on me (I pair them to an Ipod Touch) was when I ventured about 25-30 feet away. Extremely satisfied with the reliability here.

Overall:
I think the P311s are a smart choice. Great for travel (headphones fold up to fit into the hard travel case), exercise, and long periods of listening. Super comfortable, great sound. Overall I'm VERY HAPPY to own these. You'll quickly look past the cheap plastic shell to realize that these headphones may actually last you quite a long time. The battery life alone makes the P311s kick ass. Just note before you buy them, that they're not exactly "low profile". They stick out a good inch from the ear surface (but a lot of that is because of the comfortable foam padding :)).

3.0 out of 5 stars The honest truth July 30, 2011

I must admit from the start I am not an audiophile but I can be a snob about audio & video products. As others have said these headphones are pretty good value. I am always cautious buying headphones online and there are only a few places online that I feel I trust the reviewer's and seller's opinion. That being said my purchase with these were a gamble. I was looking for a solution to my hatred of ear buds and the annoyance of regular headphones leaving an impression over my hair after a few hours of use. Obviously behind the neck headphones have been around for a while but to put a twist on it all, I wanted a pair that were wireless and compatible with my iPhone 4 with phone calls, voice control, and player control. I searched and even asked the Apple store if such things asked and they said no just the behind the neck ear bud style. I did however find this brand, motorola, and one other that I forget the name of that seemed to be the answer to my problem.

With Motorola being such a brand name and quite a bit of good reviews some may ask why I didnt go with them. Looking at them via images, they looked uncomfortable and the speaker/driver looked rather small. They did however look like they were more thought out as in user control (where the buttons were placed) & I their audio line for quality never excited me. Plus they were a few bucks more.

These headphones in the images looked a bit more comfy and like the speaker/drivers were built for sound (for $30). I was going off of other peoples reviews about it being compatible to iphone 4 at least just connecting to listen to music since thats all I wanted.

When they were delivered I immediately tested them out. I was really surprised by how they sound. I never bought wireless audio products before except for my surround sound in one room for it degrades the reception typically. These sound a bit better then a decent radio with an audio file at 320kbps but then again I am not blasting these at full volume. Its peaking at 6000hz and 1ch 16-bit stereo. The padding of the headphones are great. I love padding. The headband though have some rough edges where they fold into a travel size. When they are around my neck they tend to scratch a little. Im hoping with wear that will go away or Ill just get tougher skin.

As for the function of everything. It has full control as the stock earbud with remote/mic that comes with the iphone. It has the voice activation and can activate it via headphones. I can pause tracks, skip forward and backwards. Adjust volume. Place a call with voice activation, dimiss a call via headphones. etc. They are fully functional with the iPhone 4. I can not say whether or not that are with 3GS or below. The battery life is superb and seems to stay on track with the 20 hours it says. I have not play them nonstop to test but certainly havent had to charge them in a few days at work.

My only gripe is the headband is rough at the hinges and the plastic does feel a little cheap with the center button but the other buttons seems rather solid.

In closing...I could live without them but then again knowing how much I paid and what I got along with it, its sort of hard to pass up.

QUICK REVIEW
Star Ratings:

Sound Quality= 3* - Nothing beats a wired headset but these sound decent for what they are. Not impressed nor dissatisfied. More of a shrugging feeling.

Comfort = 3* - Rough plastic near the hinges when around neck. On ears it feels secure with some room for a bigger head.

Battery Life = 4* - Impressed how long these last over a big company competitor. Life is true to specs.

Bluetooth Reception = 4* - In a three story house, I can go from top floor(with iphone on desk) to 1st floor clear. Go into a room in the 1st floor with the door shut , it oddly broke up a bit. Go into the garage with doors shut it really breaks up.

Build Quality = 3* - It does feel flimsy and the hinge is rough. And the one button is a little cheap feeling yet if you are a respectful person of your possessions I do not feel they are fragile.

Value for Money = 4* - As I said I took a gamble. I was hoping for some to get me through the day and hoping I did not just waste $30 bucks when I have perfectly good headphones to do the job. I was impressed enough I felt like a little kid with a new GI Joe I took it everywhere the first day. I am not saying these are great but if you just want a heads free device for call and listening while walking around the office floor or cleaning certainly worth the money.

EDIT: Update May 2012- I apologize to those who commented seeking answers. I was under the impression I would be alerted if someone commented. Since the dates have passed I'll do an overall answer.
- People seem to be questioning my overall 3 stars for the product when it seems the gripes are small. As I said in the review everything was average and had no product issues besides comfort and design. It IS a good product for the cost but that doesn't mean it automatically receives 5 stars. So in end it will receive an average star rating in the whole scope of headphones.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent headphones February 13, 2011

The good:

One thing I immediately noticed with these headphones is the exceptional sound quality which was a little surprising to find in this price range. Getting them paired up with my iPod Touch was dirt simple, everything worked the first time with no issues. Also paired them up to my BB because you can use these to take phone calls also.

The not-so-good:

My biggest complaint with these is the neckband could be a little longer. If you are going to be mostly stationary while using them then it's fine. However if you will be exercising with them or doing something where you're turning your head a lot then you will have problems with them slipping off your ears. The only other complaint I have, and this will sound stupid, but they smell funny...especially the case. I guess it is something to do with a material used in making them. It's not unbearable and I don't notice it all the time though.
