5.0 out of 5 stars Marvelous!
I'll keep this short. I have a laptop that I use at work with a dock, I was able to use one external monitor and the laptop monitor for a total of 2 screens. The problem was the resolutions were different sizes and the screens were not right next to each other. 2.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for I guess
It's definitely a good value, price-wise, but there are severe limitations with this product.

First of all, it will disable Aero Glass in Vista when this device is connected. This is not necessarily a show-stopper, but it IS annoying. I suppose it makes sense, as the less powerful video "card" the device uses is probably not capable of handling Glass. Oh...

I'll keep this short. I have a laptop that I use at work with a dock, I was able to use one external monitor and the laptop monitor for a total of 2 screens. The problem was the resolutions were different sizes and the screens were not right next to each other. I bought this and connected it and immediately was able to have 2 external monitors next to each other with the same resolution. The graphics are great and no delay or lag in what's on the screen. I generally use the monitor this controls for my basic web browsing along with RDP (Remote Desktop) sessions. I have also watched hulu and youtube videos on the monitor this unit controls and it is smooth with no breakup or lag at all. I am very impressed. In fact now I actually have 3 monitors, my laptop, the dock one and now this one. Great item, makes my life as a Systems Administrator that much easier now that I have 2 monitors with the same resolution side by side. Highly recommend, and it's a piece of cake to get working.

Oh well.

Major limitation in my mind, however, is its inability to offer widescreen resolutions. The resolutions is offers do NOT include widescreen aspect ratios, which means on my 21" widescreen monitor, all of the display is stretched. This sucks.

Additionally, when my computer puts the display to sleep, when I wake it up, the device "loses" all of its settings and goes back to mirroring my desktop. This is also unacceptable.

Again, you get what you pay for. I decided to go for cheap, and cheap is what I got. Lesson learned.

If you need to add a second, third (or more) monitor without opening your computer, this is the easy way to make that happen. I have a dual monitor graphics card dell XP machine and use this for a third monitor. The adapter is easy to install with XP and works for my purposes. I actually switch the device between my desktop and laptop for easy multiple monitor productivity. Performance is MUCH better than the simple cable splitter I initially used (DUH!). I'm getting another to hook up to my big screen TV. I cannot speak for high end gaming, but for charts and spreadsheets, it's a great value for the price.

i have a 50 inch panasonic hdtv and i wanted to view the internet from my laptop. i tried the s video and it was horrible. i could not read the letters. after a search on the internet, i found the arkview. price reasonably and easily installed with usb to hdmi. after hooking up the arkview, it was like viewing a 50 inch monnitor. image sharp and clear. although i my arkview did not have the phonojacks with it, i can easily connect my laptop to the stereo. split screen is great too.

good job arkview. higly recommend for those of us with a big screen hdtv.

ps. i ordered a second one for a friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Used on SIX displays - Works on VISTA 64-bit too!, December 11, 2008

This review is from: ARKVIEW USB-DH88 Multi-Display USB 2.0 to DVI/VGA/HDMI Adapter External Video Card (Link up to 6 Displays) (Personal Computers)
Purchased 6 of these usb/video adapters to add six Acer 19'' LCD monitors to my Dell 8300. All 6 adapters and monitors work perfectly along with my existing 22'' LCD monitor. Made a call to the Sabrent support desk and got a call right back and they were very helpful while I was experiencing issues connecting to through a D-Link hub. I highly recommend this USB video connector. For the 64-Bit Vista drivers I did have to download from the Sabrent website... www.sabrent.com; also www.majestron.com is helpful. The CD also includes a PDF manual as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works as expected, February 28, 2009
This review is from: ARKVIEW USB-DH88 Multi-Display USB 2.0 to DVI/VGA/HDMI Adapter External Video Card (Link up to 6 Displays) (Personal Computers)
This is one of the most simple but useful device.
I had one mafunctioning of the display driver which showed nothing on the 2nd display, but after reboot everything worked ok.

A bit pricy, but otherwise it is really handy when you have old 19" monitor and buying a new 22" or so. You don't need to throw away the old monitor.

The work performance boosted up a lot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, May 5, 2009
This review is from: ARKVIEW USB-DH88 Multi-Display USB 2.0 to DVI/VGA/HDMI Adapter External Video Card (Link up to 6 Displays) (Personal Computers)
Product is very good, overall. Convenient and easy to install without having to open up the computer. I hooked up two 24" monitors and switching between them is a breeze.
However, I find that many advertisers misled buyers into thinking that the product can support up to 6 monitors (in fact, you would have to buy an extra product for every extra monitor).

3.0 out of 5 stars Sabrent USB to DVI/VGA/HMDI = I Recommend!!!, July 24, 2009

This review is from: ARKVIEW USB-DH88 Multi-Display USB 2.0 to DVI/VGA/HDMI Adapter External Video Card (Link up to 6 Displays) (Personal Computers)
...Although I was expecting a BLACK one as pictured to match my systems, I got a white one, but no big deal at least it works and seems to refresh rather fast/instantly since am running a DUO-core almost 2gig/CPU fast laptop, but am not sure about HI-Q gaming though am only using it as extended display monitor for mostly presentations and movies...overall a great product, does what it claims, would recommend...

...One minor thing I noticed is that when the USB input plug that plugs into your laptop/computer comes off on accident while watching, you just can't seem to get it working again...the first time this happened I was going to ship it back thinking something got fried on the inside, but the easy fix is to disconnect output DVI plug that goes to the 2nd screen and then plug it in again as well as unplugging and replugging the USB port from your computer and it starts working again...so basically just unplug/re-plug like duh!!!

...A second BIG problem that made me reduce the starts from 5 to 3 is that I recently found out that this is not so compatible with windows 7 although it sort of works with windows 7 ultimate, win7-ultimate forces its own software install to run because the original software that came with the product is not compatible...as a result, you don't get the same resolutions on screens. For example, lets say you have a very hi-q wide-screen LT and you send the screen to display on an older flat-screen square monitor, win7 forces the lower resolution of that square monitor onto the hosting LT and force-crops the wide-screen to be square and auto halves your resolution. This is so not cool as it makes your display slow and drastically slows down computer performance...however, in windows vista or XP there was no such problems. I hope they come up with a better update for win7 soon. One other thing I must say is that win7 does allow you to run software in a compatibility mode as older windows as far back as win98 2nd ed and all the way to vista sp2/3, but since this adapter only display in the run panel, you just have to figure out where exactly it is in the system to try to do this as this might fix the problem. All you have to do is to find the software/location, right-click it and trouble-shoot compatibility which gives you an option to run as prior windows...

...The only other thing is that this is misleading when it says up to 6 screens because you would need 6 of these for that = 1/extra screen.

...This product is great and it's a shame I didn't invent this because I have been searching so long for something that would be easy, plug and play and with little or no compatibility issues...it works great with my Digital-Multi-Display-Envision 17" monitor that's almost 5yrs old and I just have to get HDMI/DVI-to-RCA and USB extensions so that I can extend cable length and also use this on my regular RCA big screen TVs...no need for DVD players and compatibility issues, no need to subscribe to cable TV bc can now play my computer games and watch DVD/YouTube on Big-Screen Yay!!!

For a person like me using multiple computers when doing som VJ stuff I need it since my laptops and comps have mixed outputs. So using this this has enabled me to add additonal monitor or hook up my projectors using DVI I/O. With DVI I/O I can do more things with the picture. Not to mention HDMI output. Hooked it up with my TV set and picture is great. It is not another video card or graphic card that can handle stunning graphics but it does the job as described.
