This review is from: ARNHEM - LANDING GROUNDS AND OOSTERBEEK (Battleground Europe. Operation Market Garden,) (Paperback)
This book provides a rough tour guide to the landing grounds used by 1st British Airborne Division during the Arnhem campaign in September 1944, as well as the town of Oosterbek where the division made its last stand.

It details the drop zones for both paratroopers and glider borne units. The maps are good, especially when they capture moments in time and also the map of Oosterbeek which is a modern map but with troop positions super-imposed.

I would like to take the book with me if I ever go across to Arnhem and I believe the almost turn-by-turn directions in the book would be useful for self-guided driving tours of the area.

Note that this book is just one of a series and only covers the landing grounds and Oosterbeek, not Arnhem city. For the Arnhem bridge battle, you would need the relevant book. There are other books as well that cover 'The Island', Hell's Highway and Niijmegen.

In summary, a well put together book that will be useful for the Market Garden battlefield tourist.
