I have wasted the last 2 days with this tablet! Wait, let me rephrase that. I have had 2 of these junk tablets in the last 2 days. Constant reboots, constant screen recalibrations, touch screen hardly works, I could go on! I will waste no more time! Back this second one goes and I will NEVER touch this brand again! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! BTW, If I could rate this product a "0" star rating I would!

A couple of things to clear up right away:

1. Screen resolution is 800x600 (125 ppi), which is worse than the the listed 1024x600.
2. It has a single core ARM A8 processor, which is worse than the listed dual core ARM A9.

While disappointing to find this out, I didn't find either item detrimental enough while using the tablet to return it or rate it poorly.

On to the review! (I will try to cover some things I was wondering about pre-sale)

This tablet fits niceley in the gap between my desktop computer and laptop, while not costing a small fortune to buy it. I'm rating it at 4 stars, since it's not perfect, but is pretty great considering the cost ($121 shipped new for me). The tablet runs Android 4.0... Ice Cream Sandwich, which is a definite step up from the Android 2.1 system my smartphone runs. In all honesty, I quickly flashed a custom ICS rom to the tablet using Arctools in order to get full access to Google Play within the first 10 minutes of having the tablet, so I can't speak to how well Appslib works. The flash was quick and painless, taking only minor input from me.

Screen:
I was concerned about the pixel density of this unit (125 ppi), and found myself looking at my smartphone a lot (180 ppi) and thinking to myself - how crappy is 125 ppi going to look? Well I will admit I am pleasantly surprised in that the Arnova 8 g3 (800x600) looks very good. Not great (like Apple's retina display), but small text is still sharp and App icons do not look pixelated. The screen is a 4:3 ratio (like Ipad), and this provides a much better viewing experience in my opinion for web browsing than the 16:9 ratio screens.

This tablet is just ok, it works. Pros: 1GB Ram, ICS 4.0.3, Pretty good speaker with (Volume +). Cons: Poor battery life (3hrs at most), does not respond to all touches. Mine had 4GB space but really only 2gb space for apps. It is a budget tablet. I know not to expect a ipad. I could spend a little more to buy a better tablet and get better battery life and more storage. It is good for browsing web and email. I would not use to listen to music. If you want to watch movies, have it plugged in. To root it, it is easy to get google play store on it with Arctools. One reason I seem to gravitate towards Archos and Arnova is they have nice screens, the resolution is not the greatest but the screen itself seems nice glass. Some other budget ones look like plastic.

Length: 5:02 Mins
Don't let the BAD REVIEWS deter you. Arnova 8 Gen3 is a "HIDDEN TREASURE" as it can be ROOT/MODD very easily (no skills required):

█ How To Upgrade Custom ROM in 3 easy steps █
1. Google "arctools.apk" install it on tablet
2. under Firmware Tab, select "arnova 8 G3". Program will download custom rom and reboot
3. Message Prompt "FIRMWARE UPDATE cancel or install" installed. Wait 4-8 minutes, that it!

█ BENEFITS █
1. Full access to Android Marketplace
2. Ultra Fast, and super reliable
3. SetCPU (dynamically adjust between 400mhz for longer battery life and 1000mhz for performance)

█ The GOOD █
★ LOUD SPEAKER ★ locate on the FRONT, not on the back like most tablet
★ STANDARD MICRO-USB ★ charger, no proprietary charger like most tablet
★ Generous 1GB Memory ★ most cheap tablet comes with 512mb. Large memory allow Skype to run in background
★ WEBCAM for SKYPE ★ which kindle fire original and nook tablet/HD/HD+ lacks
★ Cheap ★ around $140-$150, gain 1" extra space and webcam over Kindle Fire/ Nook HD

█ The BAD █
1. 800x600 Resolution is low, I wish this tablet has a 1024x768 like ipad mini
2. battery life is short...then again, I tend to play games on tablet

Arnova 8 G3 in (1 Star Tablet) that can be transform into a (4 Star Tablet) in 3 easy steps. 8" form factor is great for reading, and Light Weight makes it enjoyable. I also own a 32gb 10" Lenovo K1 tablet, but it is so big & heavy that I prefer using this little 8" for reading. Price is right, 8" is good for reading, and Webcam / Skype makes it better value than either Kindle Fire or Nook HD
If you can follow direction - and willing to take a little risk - the reward of flashing new ROM is more than worth it.

I have updated the review with a VIDEO, check it out!
