Excellent Instructional Material,
By
This review is from: ARRL's General Q & A: Upgrade to a General Class Ham Radio License! (Paperback)
While I used ARRL's license manual by itself when studying for my General, I used both the Q&A book and manual when studying for my Extra. I heartily recommend using both! You will find that much material can be learned by reading through the short explanations that accompany each answer in the Q&A book. This is not only good enough for some of the test material, it is actually all that's needed. Some topics only require short exposure (e.g., rules), not extended study. I don't advocate merely memorizing answers, so don't misunderstand this review. My view is that the Q&A book - for a fair percentage of the test - is good teaching material in its own right.
ARRL's full license manual for the General exam may be found here: The ARRL General Class License Manual for Radio Operators (Arrl General Class License Manual for the Radio Amateur)

I picked up the General Q&A book as a companion to the ARRL General Class License Manual and between the two was able to ace the General exam. The questions in the Q&A are the exact same ones that appear on the exam. The Q&A also offers a brief explanation regarding each question. If I needed more information on a particular question or topic, I'd read the License Manual. If you're looking to upgrade from Tech to General, this book will almost guarantee a passing score. Don't wait, upgrade today!

Excellent Resource To Pass Your General,

This review is from: ARRL's General Q & A: Upgrade to a General Class Ham Radio License! (Paperback)
I purchased this book on Amazon and used it to study for my General Class license. I spent about a week going through the book, reading and reviewing three chapters at a time each day. By day 5 I made one last pass through the book, covering all 10 chapters in about three hours. I also used www.eham.net to take several practice exams before taking my official test. On day 7, I took and passed my General Class exam with 33 of 35 correct. This book *will* help you pass your General class license.

Having a Technician license for years does not mean you stop and this book can assure that. Well written with all the tools needed to advance your license. A great tool for help in this.

Upon receiving this, I realized that it is out of date as of this year. The question bank has changed for the exam, so this book will do me little good.
