5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent backgrounder for new HF digital operators, January 7, 2009
By C. Swinney (Gainesville, FL USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Although some have complained that this book has little to offer grizzled veterans of digital operations on the HF bands, it is an excellent primer on:

1.) what's available,
2.) what each method can and can't do, and
3.) the requirements for operating each.

This is a "handbook" in the sense of "a guide" or "a quick reference." It is not an encyclopedia, like ARRL's "Handbook of Radio Communications" or CRC's "Handbook of Chemistry and Physics," neither of which, ironically, can really be held in the hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY INFORMATIVE , January 3, 2009
This book answered all my question about PSK31 which is why I bought it. In fact it covered other ways to use my radio and computer that I did not know about. Very easy reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars ARRL Digital Manual, September 8, 2008
By Dennis P. Skea (Poughkeepsie, NY) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The ARRL always has well written books on any Ham Radio subject, and this one is no different. I had an earlier edition from 1999, but this one was upgraded with all sorts of new material. Worth the price
