Review
ART as 1® - Japanese Professional Illustrators will serve as a great resource to American advertising and design professionals looking for a talent in Japan especially for projects that are more geared towards the eastern market. I am confident that this book will be a great and helpful guide to the American illustrators and designers to find out more, at one place, about what are the trends in the Japanese illustration world. All the time we are exposed to the different cultural influences but in today's global market place it is a must that we all get a chance to also see good selection of quality work as much as possible. My hope is that with ART as 1 Japanese Professional Illustrators we will see more of the great talent exchange between the two countries. --Vesna Petropic, founder & partner at Picnic Design Studios, founder of three de3isgn studio, board member, American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Cross Cultural Design Group
At Giant Robot, we have been supporters of the ART as 1® online art journal since its beginning. ... Of course we were thrilled to find out about the ARTas1® book, which provides a well-chosen sampling of exciting and up-and-coming artists from Japan. The classy publication features an amazing selection of character design, 2-D comics, digital rendering, editorial illustration, and other styles, and is an excellent source of reference and inspiration. --Martin Wong & Eric Nakamura, founders

Today's American graphic design market is big, bold, growing and visually hungry for new ideas, influences and talent. The art of ARTas1® book fulfills a need for fresh, powerful and colorful imagery. I believe the talent shown within will be welcomed by American art buyers, just as I welcome these artists to our community. This is a useful resource. I am particularly pleased that it displays the work of both long-established Japanese artists as well as the new and next generation of talent. --Gordon Kaye, editor,
