5.0 out of 5 stars SHAG-tastic!!!
Absolutely fabulous images!!! I have been a fan of SHAG's artwork for a few years. This is the second book that I own displaying his artwork, with the first one being Supersonic Swingers (2000). I currently have "Shag Party: Cocktails and Appetizers to Seduce and Entertain" on order with AMAZON. I anxiously await its arrival. It's great to have access to so many...

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing
From the cover and title this book promises more than it offers, it was hardly the karmasutra we expected, nor was it an insightful and USEFUL travel guide to the beautiful ad unspoilt regions of 'Shag Rocks' (yes it does exsist we know we've been there.....many times).
so in conclusion....this was the most dissapointing shag we've ever had!!!!

love ros...

It's great to have access to so many of his incredible works without having to spend thousands of dollars on an original piece, although... if I had it ($) to spend on artwork, I'd have a room full!!!

The delightful work represented by Shag is such a crowd pleaser, appealing to the avant garde and yuppies alike. His anthropomorphic playfulness and detail for amusement, absurdity and child-like wonderment are addictive.

Tons of fun in this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Shag milestone, March 13, 2006
This review is from: ART OF SHAG: BOTTOMLESS COCKTAIL (Paperback)
This book is a great resource for cataloging the career of Shag. A new book is out by Billy Shire that delves deeper but this book was first and draws a significant line in the sand.
I have followed Shag's career from before it was a fine art career and continue to follow it (see the catalogs from the shows I curated featuring Shag pieces: Tiki Art Now! and Tiki Art Two) and I think this book is a great starting point for all new Shag fans as well as a must have for serious, longstanding Shag fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breakthrough Illustrator SHAG!!, April 5, 2005

Of course, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit envious of how this illustrator creates such great masterpieces. Shag, aka Josh Agle, has perplexed the minds of many who often wonder how such simplistic paintings attract such a devoted fanbase. Stars such as Whoopi Goldberg have collected his work, making simple prints skyrocket to unobtainable prices. This book showcases some of Shag's work, and the pictures are of the highest quality.
Having had the pleasure of actually meeting Shag at an art gallery in Long Beach, I've noticed that he bears a startling resemblance to the men he includes in his paintings. Although it was not his attention to do so, I thought it was rather interesting.
Certainly a good picture book for anyone seeking a minute library of his vast works, Shag is definetely not an artist to be imitated.

This is a wonderful book with the art of Josh Agle (SHAG). It is a nice sampling of various types of his body of work. A great coffee table book. I highly recommend it to any SHAG fan or fan of 50's and 60's looking art!
