5.0 out of 5 stars I love this shoe1
I bought the ASICS GEL-150 TR Training Shoe, based upon a recommendation I read in Consumer Reports. I walk at least 3 miles, 5 or more days a week, and needed a comfortable shoe for my almost 61 year old body. I tried them for the first time today, and boy was I impressed. They were much easier on my feet than the expensive New Balance running shoes I'd always bought...

You can't beat the price. I got them for $65 online. I'd always paid at least $100 retail for running shoes. What a bargain!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, but if you have wide feet.., August 3, 2009

Very comfortable walking/running shoes. They are flexible and the most "cushiony" shoes I have ever had, maybe too soft if you are running for speed and distance. But if you have wide feet, be aware that they are not as wide as the should be. I normally buy wide or E shoes and get a good fit. After having a similar problem with New Balance shoes, I ordered the 4E width of the GEL-150. I can wear these, but the laces have to be let out so far that barely enough are left to tie the shoe, and I am skipping the top set of holes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked out well..., August 30, 2009
I ordered this model online because I could not find it in the local stores. I was interested in a training shoe and this one met my criteria. Another factor for pursuing this particular model is that it was recommended by Consumer Reports.

My initial reluctance to ordering shoes online was the uncertainty of how it would fit. Not all brands are true to size... some are too loose, some are too tight. This particular model, as it turns out fit perfectly. They are also very comfortable and supportive. I would have preferred they come in a finished leather rather than suede, but I knew this ahead of time.

They arrived sooner than expected, so overall, everything worked out well.

I have always been a fan of Asics footwear. An independent reviewer recommended these and I had not seen them in the places usually buy shoes so I searched them out. Amazon came through. These cross trainers have even better support than the running shoes I usually get. I am a 300 pounder so that is important. Purchasing and shipping went off without a single hitch. I am a happy camper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very comfortable, August 20, 2009

I bought these sneakers to replace my, everyday/mall-walking sneakers. They are comfortable and I can walk around all day long. My only complaint is that there is more leather than mesh on the white ones so they do get a lil hot. Fit is very accurate. I bought these because they got a great review in Consumer Reports.

Much to my dismay they are less comfortable than New Balance even after the initial two weeks of breaking them in. They seem to have less cushioning and support. They were nicely discounted, but I think that was because of some paint overspray that occurred during manufacturing.

3.0 out of 5 stars ASICS review of comfort and fit, November 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this product for three reasons: 1) My current New Balance 602 (Made in USA) walking shoes were wearing out after at least 1,000 miles of use. 2) Consumer's Report recommended them 3) Reading the positive reviews here.

I can only compare them to my well used New Balance 602's. On day one and two it was pleasantly obvious they were gel-filled. The cushioning was great and made for a comfortable walk (4 miles/day).

Now after walking in them for 64 miles I find them feeling little different than my old New Balance 602's. The tops have remained as firm as they were new. The sole is not pronouncedly curved upward at the toe and heel like the NB walking shoes so the natural rolling from heel to toe isn't as natural feeling in the Asic as was in the 602's.

I expect the gel is still working but I really no longer feel the sensation of gel like I did in the first five to fifteen miles I walked in them. I'd compare that sensational loss to chewing gum. After awhile it finally loses its flavor but you chew it anyway.

I rated them "OK." That means they are acceptable. Unfortunately I can't tell how long the soles will last which is important. Their price is attractive but overall, the next time I buy walking shoes I'll buy American (New Balance are made in Maine) and find another New Balance walking shoe that will fit my use (I am 63 years old).

PS. Women, my girlfriend has put nearly 200 miles on her Shape-Ups (bought from Amazon.com). She loves them. According to her, they still give her the workout they are designed to give. Check them out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dirty shoes sent, December 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We were disappointed when our ASICS GEL-150 training shoe gift was opened by our grown son at Christmas. They were dirty as if someone had used them and returned them. The sides of the soles were also stained with spatterings of black that looked like a manufacturing mistake.

My son kept them as they were comfortable, but will use them only for sports as they don't look new enough to wear as his "nice sneakers" for going out.
