Product Description

In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

Synthetic and mesh upper features a Biomorphic Fit for out-of-the-box comfort, while the Solyte midsole lends extra cushioning. Working in conjunction with the Trusstic System, the Impact Guidance System (I.G.S.) enhances an efficient, natural stride. Provides exceptional stability with Guidance Line, a wider mid-foot base and the DuoMax Support System. I.G.S. for gait enhancement, ComforDry sock liner for superior fit. Traction rubber sole. Imported.

I was inspired by my old college roommate who at the age of 42 can still fit into the clothes he wore in high school to consistently jog every day starting with 1 mile and seeing how it goes from there. His recommedation was to have consistency; stick with it, take my time and eventually I will be able to run further and faster with less effort.

    Now about the shoes.
I used some old Nike cross trainers (they were extremely light) for my first two days of jogging. It did not go well. Although I ran a complete mile non-stop each time, my shins were throbbing every time I finished and it hurt everytime I went up and down some stairs, for that first week. At the end of the week, I went to Marathon Sports in Newton, MA to get fitted on advice from a coworker that runs regularly.

During the overview of trying different sneakers (Brooks and a couple others) and doing a couple of test strides, these ASICS Men's Gel Evolution 6 were the only ones that made me feel like I had support for my arch, control when my feet landed and most importantly, reduced the amount of pain that I was still feeling in my shins with every step that I took. I finally felt like they could hold my 5'10 230 lb frame up while running and prevent my legs from breaking at the shins. Before this, my mantra was "never pay more than $50 for a pair of sneakers." These sneakers are the most expensive sneakers I have ever purchased and they are worth every dollar (at $120 a pair, worth every penny seems too small a figure for the statement). After doing two subsequent runs on these shoes, my shin pain is no longer a distraction; allowing me to focus on my form, breathing and what I call the mental challenge of being able to stick with it; resisting the urge to quit in the middle of the run because I don't want to run anymore feeling. Today was the end of my second week and I am now up to 2 miles. I am not sure I would've continued running if I had not gotten these shoes.

I am an avid runner, unfortunately cursed with extremely flat feet and overpronation. I usually run about 20+ miles per week and runners knee has always been a problem for me. Today was my first day in the gel evolution 6 and they were awesome! Really comfortable with good support. Fits to size.

I have flat foot, and i was also a little overweight, which lead to shin splints that makes running almost impossible for me.
I've decided to buy these shoes and give it a try. In the first 2 weeks I ran and played tennis with them. But the pain was still there. After 2 weeks pain started to reduce, I started to run better, changed my eating style to a more healthy one. And now I've been running with them for almost 6 months now, and I have no pain, I'm healthier, more fit and I can run better. These shoes worked magical for me, not only lead me to a painless run, but inspired me to loose weight.

I strongly recommend them if you suffer from shin splints. They don't look very nice (but beauty is in the eye of beholder) so you can't wear them under jeans really, but they function so well that I'm giving it 5 stars.

Also i received the shipping quickly and without problems from Amazon.

Seller: Product as described - quick postage to Australia!

Product: Very lightweight shoe for the size (15 in my case) I have quite flat feet and usually run in Brooks Beast but decided to give these a try as well. The arch is a bit narrow for my particular pronation, but can't fault the shoe design for this. Bought these on a gamble as anything over sz 13 is quite hard to come by at the shops on this side of the globe and even if a pair is sourced *and* the current strength of the Aussie dollar, they are still at least 100 dollars more here. FFS!!
Anyhow, very pleased with the product overall and as a bonus, they've even decided to take it easy on the awful colour/design schemes in the latest few gens of these shoes.

I am 6'3" and 230 pounds and have flat feet. It is not easy to find a good running shoe. I have been running about 5-7 miles per week for 6 months. These shoes are very stable and and my feet feel good after a run.

The only drawback to the shoe is that they only come in a very ugly gray.

I absolutely love the tight fit in the center. It's not too tight but makes you foot feel good and contained when you walk. Which is great for my very flat feet. The bottom is very strong and sturdy, and the top-especially the toe box-feels great and I can maneuver great with these shoes.

Overall best in their class as well. I've asked some stores like Sports Authority and Dick's Sporting Goods and they say that.

Excellent Performance with top of the line comfort-ability.

This is a great extra motion control shoe for the big & tall set. It is very breathable and not terribly heavy. The looks are OK but at least I'm comfortable.

I am 62 years old and this shoe provides great comfort and wears well. Have had three pair and intend to buy another. I average running about 35-40 miles a week.
