5.0 out of 5 stars A footnote!
I had major ankle reconstruction in January 09 and after recovery I needed a shoe with arch support. I tried some shoes that were for weak arches but they failed in a few week. I need to mention here that I weigh 350 lbs....so I am [...] weak shoes. I thought I would try these Asics that were made for over pronating ankles, since mine was "fixed" these might just be...

3.0 out of 5 stars This overpronator prefers the GEL-Evolution series
I decided to give this shoe a try in the interest of saving some money over ASICS' higher priced GEL-Evolution series. The company groups both styles within their "Maximum Support" category, but offers the GEL-Foundation for about $30 less.

I really wanted to like this as much (if not more) than the higher priced GEL-Evolution, which is what I normally wear...

I thought I would try these Asics that were made for over pronating ankles, since mine was "fixed" these might just be the solution for "arch support" shoes. I have been wearing them for two months and am very satisfied with their performance and durability. I have purchased another pair in case they go obsolete I will have an extra pair!

I just ordered my second pair of these shoes. Even as worn out as my first pair is, they are still more comfortable than other new shoes that I've tried. My ankles over-pronate and these shoes help a great deal. I no longer have foot pain or thick callouses on my feet from my ankles turning in. These are definitely the best shoes I've ever owned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well satisfied., September 7, 2009
I've worn New Balance forever but on the recommendations I saw in a leading runner's magazine I gave these a try. I am very well satisfied with their comfort, fit, and durability. I've had them about a year and they are just as comfortable as when I first got them. I will buy another pair of these when they wear out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great shoes!, August 25, 2010
By
I love these shoes! This is my fourth pair of Gel Foundations, and are a great value for the money. Without spending $100 or more for the 9's, I still got a great shoe that really supported my foot even though I run with a severe pronation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best shoe for flat feet, January 31, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I started running about two and a half years ago. I knew nothing about proper form or footwear and consequently screwed up my knee. Once I got these shoes though, I can pretty much run all day with no pain. SUPER light and breathable. I am getting ready to order my second pair. I will never buy a different running shoe unless these are discontinued. NEVER.

Happy to still find this running shoe at a good price. Great for flat-footed runner, who need a moderate priced shoe.
I run about 3-5 miles max 2-3x per week.

This pair of Aasics running shoes were great and good value since they were reasonably priced at $70. I strongly recommend these running shoes. They are perfect for me.

I really wanted to like this as much (if not more) than the higher priced GEL-Evolution, which is what I normally wear. However, I found the support just wasn't as good, even when paired with Superfeet GREEN orthotic inserts.

I'm still not sure what the extra $30 pays for in the GEL-Evolution, but for whatever reason it works much better for me -- I am a serious overpronator. Still, the GEL-Foundation might be a good (and more affordable) choice for those with moderate overpronation.

4.0 out of 5 stars A solid shoe, October 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This shoe is a good shoe for me in that it is a motion control construction type shoe.
I have run a couple of half marathons with it and it has held up well. I use an orthodic device for my left foot and with some adjustment to the liner it has worked fine. I have found that the right foot insole has caused my foot to blister in the instep area. A band aid and callus have made this go away. A very good value for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars UNBELIEVEABLE COMFORT, October 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought the gel foundation 8(Asics) and two other shoes, 1 another Asics which isn't as comfortable as the gel foundation 8 and the other the New Balance 4e in size 8. Of the 3 the gel foundation 8 is unbelievably comfortable on my feet. I have very wide feet and I walk 3 miles on a daily basis for physical exercise. It feels like I'm in socks and walking on a padded floor it is so comfortable. This is a great shoe! At least for me.

and I do know Asics has been worn by many Olympic gold medalists in the maraTHON, they don't choose this shoe because they are getting paid for it, they are CHOOSING THIS SHOE BECAUSE IT IS A GREAT SHOE. LONG LIVE ASICS AND MORE OLYMPIC MEDALS IN RUNNING!
