I bought this shoe for longer distances. It does provide plenty of cushion in the heel (and the midsole and toe when you start to get tired and lose running form). This shoe is not ideal for sprinting a 5K, but worked good for my 40 mile ultramarathon 3 days ago. Also, the arch support could be a little more. This is great for a neutral, but if you have a higher arch, the support will only be adequate. I would have preferred more arch support (higher in sole) during my last run.
I recommend combining this shoe with the sof-sole that fits you best.

I am a fifty year old average built male and have been running since my teens, minus a year or two. I run two hours daily (daily), which turns out to be about twelve miles per run. I have a tendency to daydream while I run and if the shoe does not feel or fit right, fantasy land does not exist. I have run in about every shoe made and did not get particular until a few years ago. I now only buy Asics, but sometimes stray to another brand just for a bit of adventure. I tried the Asics Men's Gel-Pluse Running Shoe from the 1st of September until now the end of October 2009. I have a few months to go before I change them, since I wear them completely out about every four months (devastate them at six months, which I do not recommend). I am fairly impressed with the land and the wear on the sole. I have used this shoe during the summer/fall time so I cannot say how it does in the winter months in the Tacoma/Seattle area. The landing is particularly soft and of course there are no blisters (ever) or break-in time for this brand. You put them on and they are ready to run. The color selection was a little drab, but if they offered it in neon pink I have to wonder if I would purchase it. This shoe, like many others, has a problem when it gets wet. The laces will not stay tied, so double knot them when it is raining. When the shoe gets wet it will throw back any needles, dirt or gravel into the vamp, wedging themselves between the sock and medial. Eventually it works it's way into the shoe, forcing one to stop to remove it. This is because the tread of the shoe has so many gaps, which trap particles. I have found this problem to be systemic with all running shoes though. The shoe does dry quickly without loss of structural integrity. I give this shoe a five star rating because of the comfort, which exceeds the cost.

You can't go wrong with this shoe. I am a very moderate walker/jogger. Maybe 2 miles a day three days a week. I replaced a similar with this one and I a very satisfied.

just as I saw it in the retail store, the item was identical and shipped in a timely fashion. Extremely satisfied, have used the service in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

I started running with Asics in High School for cross country and have stayed with the brand over the years for my running shoe of choice. I run mostly on a tread mill these days to keep the pounds off and to try and stay in shape. I will comparison shop to get the best value and this shoe is working out nicely for the cost.

My boys are runners and on cross-country and track teams in high school and college. They run 50 miles or more each week and Asics are the shoes they always choose. This is a good durable and comfortable shoe at a very reasonable price. I would definitly recommend it.

This shoe fits really comfortable. Much better than my last pair of shoes which actually caused my ankle to pain. The support and cushioning is great. I use it mainly for walking and light jogging. I'm very satisfied with this shoe.

No break in time needed. Slight rub of heals for a couple runs. Excellent stabilization, good arch and camber adjustment. Like most people, I show wear on the outside of shoe. Light weight. Dries fast. Glad I changed from my NBs. I was told that you can't get a good shoe under a $100. I disagree!

These are very good shoes. Very comfortable and feel very light. I love the look and the design of the shoe as well. Great buy!

I bought these shoes for my husband in hopes that he will start working out with me. They shipped very quickly and fit perfectly (true to size). I have a pair and they are great for walking and jogging (so I think). I got a better price on Amazon than in my local athletic shop (just fyi).
