I ordered these shoes from Road Runner sports and they actually showed up the next day! I didn't even pay for express shipping, so that was amazing. They also followed up with a phone call to ask if everything was ok so I definitely recommend using Road Runner.
The shoe is great and this is my second pair i've gone through with this model. They last very well, especially considering how light the shoe is. I don't like minimal shoes but this one is as light as it gets while still having some stability. They fit great right out of the box and my first run in them was 7 miles and I had absolutely no problems!

I was Kayano runner for years then I felt recent models were too heavy and pricy. I stopped by my local running store, and I was told about DS trainer. Never paid attention to DS series I was skeptical, and instead picked up 21XX model at the time. I still felt 21XX was missing the point, and I remeber the advise from the store. Why not shelling out another $70 (ouch). I picked up the DS Trainer 16.5, which is the red model. Apprently the production change happened and 16 (the pinkish white model) and 16.5 are slightly different on fitting. WEll, I must say I am very happy with my choice. They are super light, yet still provide enough support that I need...and 1/2 the price of Kayano! Wow.

Of course these are light weight shoes, hence I don't expect to take same level of abuse like Kayano. But I'm really liking them so far. Oh, and I used to wear wide Kayano, but with DS trainer I wear normal size.

I have found these shoes to be the most comfortable running shoe I have worn thus far. Great support and very light. The off centre laces offer a level of comfort that I haven't noticed in others.

I consider myself a serious runner and am fairly accomplished in the realm of the 5k-10k (xc, track, and road). I have been training in the DS Trainer for a few years now, since the 14 first came out. It is an excellent shoe for mild overpronators who want something that is supportive yet lightweight (this one weighs in at around 10.5 or 11 ounces, depending on your size).

However, I was disappointed by the changes made in this model (the 16). The separate heel piece seemed like a cool innovation, but it turns out that it improves the fit of the shoe very little (if at all) while adding to its bulk and weight. The 16 is indeed a few tenths of an ounce heavier than its predecessors. Also, the gray suede bits are just silly (running shoes don't need suede). I actually think this may be the ugliest shoe I have ever run in.

Anyways, I put a good 400 miles on these and was pretty happy with them, but when it came time for new shoes I actually went online and ordered a pair of the old 15. Maybe I just don't like change, but I really hope that the next iteration of this great shoe returns to the more conservative construction and lighter, slimmer feel of the older models.

These are the first shoes I have purchased on-line. The process was pretty seamless. The shoes are great, fit well and look like the photos. They are light and comfortable, although I think the quality is down a bit from the pair I bought 3 years ago. They do not seem as well made, and the laces are cheap.

My suggestion is to read user comments on fit first. They were very helpful in deciding what size to buy. I would buy on here again, if I could not find what I wanted locally, as was the case this time. I found that even after paying duty and taxes I still saved money from locally advertised prices in Calgary.

I just wish Amazon would ship to Canada direct, rather than needing to include a third party broker in the process. That is a pain.

I just received them today and after re-lacing them I took them out for a test run. UNBELIEVABLE COMFORT!!! I have never been one to believe in the hype of name-brand shoes, but now I will swear by ASICS. I have flat feet and these shoes really accommodate that hindrance, I ran 5 miles today with ease and comfort. These shoes put my old Reeboks to shame, which did not accommodate my flat feet and caused me much pain that my legs and feet just became accustomed to it. It felt really great to truly run with no need of having to stop because my legs and feet were hurting, they adjusted quickly to the ASICS' design. I am happy to have bought them. The shoe is stylish yet durable (as they were made to be) and they feel absolutely great.

Let me preface this with a disclaimer: the only running shoes that I will even consider buying are Asics. If you think that I am alone in my preference for Asics, go to a 5K and take note to the high percentage of running wearing Asics. I own about a dozen pairs of Asics and these are by far my favorite. The fact that they are eye catching (without going to the level of the Asics Gel Noosa Tri-6) is a plus but pales in comparison to how light yet supportive they are. I have put a beating on them in the past 4 months and they have held up extremely well.

The DS 16 incorporates a new feature. While the last itself is the same as prior models, the inner heel area is a separate piece which snugly wraps around the heel area.

It is definitely a different feel from earlier versions of the DS; more support and perhaps heavier. Since I only wore them on a short break-in run, I can't assess performance on a training run. I thought I would provide a heads-up since it is new and different for the DS line.

These shoes are perfect for me. I think it's best for any runner to go to a store and figure out what are the best shows for their them. Get advice then come and buy them on Amazon at a discount.

I use this shoe, more than 5 years in my marathons. He is getting better light, soft and comfortable. Gregorio Franca - Sao Paulo / Brazil.
