In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

PS: They are very comfortable too, the gel provides a very cushioned run/walk.
Anyway back to this shoe. The fit is great, like a sock. I dont feel the weight. Its responsive and not too rigid, which is perfect when walking on trails as it will adapt to the uneven terrain. The price is not insanely high which is what attracted me to the shoe the most.
Why a two if its so great? Well I put in the dates purchased on purpose. So my first Venture was bought in September. I mainly use it for walking as I have other shoes for running (Asics as well as I like to stick to one brand), then as I was putting on the shoes today, i noticed a small chunk of the Right shoe around the upper right area of the sole missing (I found the missing piece on the car, so I could glue them back). But I was wondering why they would come off that early and Im not stressing the shoes all that much. Im 82 kilos by the way if that's relevant and I think I have a neutral foot type as I dont favor the outer edges of my feet when walking or running. I was trying to remember if I tripped on some or grazed the shoe aggressively but I couldnt remember doing anything remotely heavy with the shoe.
I checked the left shoe and noticed that the same area was loose as well. Thinking it could just be a bad batch, I checked on my other Venture pair, this one just bought this month and just 3 weeks old. I must have used it thrice, two for walking to break them in and one for a walking mountain trek, which is what I bought them for.Read more ›
All that said, now what you need to know is that my son absolutely loves his shoes! He told me they are very light, dried quickly, and were comfortable. He also told me that he is still wondering how these shoes got though all what he did to them, and came out of this rough test almost perfect! (the rubber at a little part of the tip of one shoe will need a bit of glue to be good as new). At one point, when coming down from one of the many mountains, there was a lot of mud in the rocky path. He was more or less ¨skating¨ downwards, because he was tired and he just didn't care what happened to the shoes, as long as he got to the bottom (where the camp was) soon. Afterwards, when washing the mud away, he was surprised to see no damage was done to the shoes!
It was raining almost all the time, so he just put his shoes near the fire they built every night, and in no time the shoes were dry again. He had another pair of shoes, just in case, but didn't use them because they were not as comfortable and light as his new shoes.
He also told me that he noticed the shoes somehow repelled the huge amounts of mud they were supposed to be caked in.Read more ›

Asics are my favorite running shoe. I used to run track in high school and college and this was always my go to shoe. Great fit without any slipping or sliding. Read morePublished 9 hours ago by Sarng Htis
The shoes are much darker than what appears in the picture and I thought about returning them, but the comfort level makes them worth keeping. Read morePublished 14 hours ago by Dave Galik
These shoes are light and very comfortable. The size runs a little small imo so I would suggest buying a half size larger.Published 22 hours ago by Eric Lambert
