In looking for running shorts I have a couple of critical criteria that I look for. The shorts should have a good inner brief...not too tight but provides a bit of support. It should have a key pocket in the front that is just big enough to hold a single key and it should have a flap over the top to prevent it from jarring loose (real disaster to find that your car key found its way out somewhere on the last 10 miles of trail when you return...don't ask it happened.). Fabric should be light weight to not weigh you down and the length shouldn't constrict your running or prevent good air circulation to keep you cool. These shorts hit the mark on all of these items. They also boast slash side pockets that when empty you don't even know they're there. But give you a place to put your key ring and wallet when you hit the juice bar (or whatever) following your run....(don't have to change shorts in your car!)
Longevity wise, time will tell. The brief elastic is a bit thin and is already beginning to loose it's ability to return after about a year. I usually look to get 5+ years out of my shorts using them once per week and machine washing (drip dry). So far so good.

These shorts are great for distance running. They're lined for a comfortable fit yet the outer shell is baggy for a nice fit. The only thing I wish were different is that the pockets had zippers.

Excellent shorts, ultra light, inside liner leg holes are a bit large, could be smaller for a snugger fit, but overall excellent shorts. I should add that they handle sweat excellent, after working out and my cotton shirt is soaked, my shorts are still dry, it's sort of freaky.

I bought these for running as a balance between functional shorts (with standard side pockets) and performance (fabrics, liner). They worked out so well (and were such a great deal) that I bought another pair in a different color.

Snagged these for my dad as he never seems to have enough workout/travel clothes. Light, breathable, quick-drying, convenient pockets - versatile and practical. They do run small though, definitely order up one size. The waistband is a bit snug.

These are great running shorts.
Quick drying, and wicking.
Very comfortable.
The size seem to run a little small.
I am usually a medium and these are a bit tight.
I would go with a large next order.
My waist is 33", I am 6' and 168 lbs.

If you run much you probably already know the joy of "technical fabrics" over cotton. They dry quickly and feel very light and outright silky. These shorts have pockets that you're not going to use during a run, obviously. The pockets are useful anyway because it is nice to wear the shorts whenever it is warm enough. Even for lounging around the house and cogitating a run.

They've been through a few washes now and still look good. I suspect they'll last a long time unless a cactus reaches out and gets 'em.

The ASICS men's pocketed shorts are very comfortable during exercise routines. The pocket holds an iPod in place during weight exercises. The X-Large size fits comfortably although I thought a Medium would be fine. They are not long and baggy like basketball shorts. I liked these shorts enough to buy a second pair.

These shorts never wear out!!! They was and dry quickly and are the most comfortable Mens short ever. The sizes M are perfect ASICS has great product in all areas..

These shorts are extremely light and cool. I rode my motorcycle to the park to take them for a run. The front inner pocket has a flap that keeps stuff from bouncing out. Stuff like my drivers license. It fit perfectly in the little pocket. plus there are 2 large pockets on the sides. the inner liner keeps the package in place without chaffing. Great shorts!

I seem to have the best luck with Asics running shorts. They are the most comfortable and the longest lasting of all my shorts.
