Light, comfortable synthetic leather and breathable open-mesh upper enhances performance and fit. Forefoot SpEVA® cushioning component offers lightweight cushioning plus durability. Heel and forefoot GEL® Cushioning Systems improve shock attenuation and reduce weight. The DuoMax® medial post provides stability and shores the midfoot. Trusstic System® links the rearfoot and forefoot to maintain midfoot support. Lateral rearfoot flex grooves offer rearfoot shock attenuation at initial impact. Two-piece DuraSponge® outsole adds flexibility and cushioning. AHAR® heel plug helps reduce excessive wear. Wt. 10.3 oz.

Not knowing a lot about tennis shoes, I chose this shoe because they weren't heavy. I use these shoes for commuting and they are great! Now I'm looking for the same shoe in lime green and yellow to match my jogging suits. To me, this shoe is like a well made sock and if you need to do a lot of walking but not intensive exercise, this is a good shoe for you. Especially since I'm not well versed on the brands and types. But I'm totally hooked on Asics much to the shagrin of my sister who is a Nike person...

This is my second pair of Gel-1100. They are perfect for treadmill and outdoor running as well as high impact aerobic work. They weigh almost nothing! The price was also fantastic, this pair cost me about half what I paid for the first pair.

The Gel-1100 is my all time fav for running. I have tried all the new asics and spent hundreds of dollars on shoes and always come back to the 1100. Just enough coushion throughout the shoe. They may feel stiff at frist but will form like a glove to your foot.
