4.0 out of 5 stars Great "gym" shoe
I discovered after years of running both outside and on a treadmill, that I loved the Asics. However, not long ago I started doing cardio kick-boxing type classes at the gym, and realized I needed a different shoe...one that could handle the short, rapid side to side and front back movements. I realized this after getting big blisters from doing the classes in my...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not enough cushioning
I've read all of the reviews before purchasing this shoe and unfortunately, most people are using them as walking shoes instead of aerobics (which is what I wanted them for). So, while they may be great for walking, I didn't find them to be comfortable right out of the box, a little too stiff and not nearly enough padding under the ball of your feet for aerobics. Had to...

I discovered after years of running both outside and on a treadmill, that I loved the Asics. However, not long ago I started doing cardio kick-boxing type classes at the gym, and realized I needed a different shoe...one that could handle the short, rapid side to side and front back movements. I realized this after getting big blisters from doing the classes in my running shoes. From the first time I wore these new shoes in class, they were great! Absolutely no blisters, and they are perfect for the quick back and forth movements. If anything, they may run a touch big, and wide. I am really always an 8 1/2 so that's what I ordered. I probably could not have taken an 8 for the length, so it is the right size, they are just a bit wide...but it has not proven to be a problem at all. The cost was great and I think I am going to order another pair just to have as a spare!

4.0 out of 5 stars order a size up, July 11, 2010

Definitely order a size up! I'm a 9 in womens, I bought these in 9.5 and they're still too small! I guess sneaker size is different than boot size.

4.0 out of 5 stars cross trainer/wide-footed customer, March 13, 2010

For over a decade, I wore expensive black suede New Balance 992 running shoes - partly for the look, partly because I wear a 6D (wide) and New Balance offers a specialized selection for the wide-footed! Then I started taking exercise classes requiring much lateral movement with weights and BOSU equipment, core exercise set to music, and kick box. My running shoes were horrible for balancing and lateral stability. Nordstrom store sold ASIC GT-2140 running shoe in 6B (whose design has "give" in the width), as cross training shoes, to me at a good sale price; these fit and worked beautifully until I read on the Internet that it is a running shoe! ASICs are wonderfully LIGHTWEIGHT! I scoured the reviews on various ASIC cross-training shoes re: wide feet, then decided to chance ordering the GEL-250 TR in my usual size 6. They were too painfully tight at the medial/lateral metatarsals (widest part of my forefoot), but I put a metal bar in the shoes overnight and they stretched out just fine. I noticed only a little improvement in lateral stability over the GT-2140, but ASICs are so much better for these exercise classes than my New Balance which were built for premium forward propulsion.
