Great Shoe, Great Service,

I've been running in Kayanos for a couple years now, having switched models from the Asics GT 2100 series. The asymmetrical lacing pattern is a comfortable design, and the model offers the correction I need for my overpronation. This time around, I was unsure I'd stick with Asics Kayanos because I never really felt great about my Kayano 16s for some reason. But, I've had more positive experiences than not, so I purchased the 17s from Road Runner Sports. The shoes arrived sooner than I anticipated, which pleased me. And the shoes feel like running with wings on my feet. Pretty awesome. Great cushioning, great colors, and sturdy build. All within 11oz. Road Runner Sports even made a follow-up phone call to me, to assess my satisfaction. This was an entirely positive purchasing experience.

I've been running in Asics Kayanos it's been 15 years.Kayano 17 got a lot lighter (each shoe is 12.3 ounces) and has more cushioning in the forefoot. Off-center laces are designed to conform to the bony structure of the foot and therefore reduce irritation. Mine are black and I really love the way they look (I am not one for pink running shoes.) All in all, increased comfort and a better fit, but still feel like the Kayanos you've grown to love.

Blister Free Shoe!,

I had the 2150s and they gave me blisters every time I ran. I upgraded to the Gel Kayano 17s and I have NO blisters. They are a tiny bit heavier than the 2150s, but still fairly light for a shoe. VERY COMFORTABLE and the built in support is awesome!

This is the best walking/running shoe I have ever worn. Do be sure to order at least a half size larger that what you normally wear in other shoes, maybe even a full size depending on sock thickness preference. I will buy these again as soon as my current ones wear out, worth every penny.

Fast service, quality design. Put 8.5 miles on them in the first 24-hours without blisters or any other problems. The added durability and padding around the back of the ankle prevents any ankle rolling or knee discomfort and helps to keep your foot in line. If you have pronation issues, this is the shoe for you. If you already own a pair of ASICS, the kayano will remain true to your previous size. ASICS just makes amazing running shoes. Well worth the extra cash for happy, healthy feet =)

I bought these shoes because my old running shoes were wearing out. I run 20-25 miles a week and these shoes are great! I have overpronation and these shoes are great for my foot type, and they have removable insides so you can put in orthotics if you wish. They are really comfortable, and well worth the price. I would suggest them to a friend.

I purchased the K-17 because it is sold in half-sizes for women. I have just returned from my run. The fit is excellent and insole and arch support is exceptional. You can actually feel your feet settling into your personal, perfect "spot" for the run. This shoe is worth every penny!

The ASICS GEL-Kayano 17 shoe is the most comfortable running shoe I have ever purchased. In fact I just bought my third pair. I want to let everyone know that these shoes are not just for running (I never run anymore!) but are great for just walking and everyday use. I have plantar faciitis and lots of heal and arch pain the extra gel cushion in these shoes is a life saver! My foot doc said to buy running shoes since they have more cushion and support than any other sneaker. In my book ASICS GEL-Kayano is the hands down winner! I love love these comfortable sneakers. One more note my husband has also fallen in love with this style ASICS and has them in 3 different colors too!!

The only racing shoe for me,

When I decided to train for my first marathon, it was suggested that I go to a running store and have them test me for the proper type of shoe. Prior to this, I often had sore knees and ankles during my longer miles. The Kayano was their best recommendation and though I'd never spent that much money on shoes, I spent the money to avoid larger medical bills that could occur from injuring myself. That was back in 2004 and it's the best decision I've ever made. I have some cheaper $40-50 shoes for regular wear and shorter distances but any long miles are done in these shoes. Each year I purchase a new pair and they are the only ones I'll buy.My recommendation is to go to a running store and have them fit you, step on the treadmill, and see which type of shoe is best for the way you run or walk. If this model of Asics is recommended, buy it! Remember, that shoes do not all fit the same, regardless of the brand so it's important to figure out what you need specifically. I have a relatively flat foot and need higher stability. The cushion in these shoes is fantastic and I don't even need to break them in for them to feel comfortable. I can do long miles, first time out. Remember to go a 1/2 or 1 full size bigger if these are for distance because your feet will swell. One thing to keep in mind, if you wash them in the washing machine, it may ruin the cushion. I washed my old pair last week and found out on Sunday when I did my 8 miles that I need to replace them. I have a race in 2 weeks so I went to my go to place, Amazon, and got them sent overnight. Turns out that I paid less than I would have at my local sporting goods store, too. Love 'em!

For those with challenging feet: Overall great shoe for people with flat feet whose foot turns inward / pronate. Very cushy. However, Asics keeps adjusting the lacing, etc. each year, so may work for some and not others. (So see my advice at the end.)I have thoroughly enjoyed my Gel-Kayano 14 Asics, but now those are no longer made. My mom loves her pair of Gel-Kayano 17s (she has a high bone on top of her feet, fused bones in her feet, and no arch) and mine - I've been breaking them in - and pretty sure they'll work. For me, I wear foot supports, have no arch, have a size A heel and a size B front, and my feet often hurt after long periods of walking or standing on my feet - so I need cushioning, stability for my ankles, and a shoe that propels me forward. I had to put the insole back in under my foot supports so as to raise my foot in the shoe - otherwise my left shoe cut into my ankle, just under the bone. I also needed to play around with the lacing so my heel would stay in my shoe. Lastly, as a problem I had with my first two Asics, they cut slightly into my outside of my left foot at the widest point, near the bone. After calling reading about the right shoe at [...] and talking to a rep at (800) 678-9435, I've learned that I need to go yearly to a runner's shoe store where they watch you run and help you find the right shoe for you. I thought once was enough - that's how I started wearing Asics. At least go try them on and walk around awhile in a shoe store before buying them online. Hope this helps someone.
