5.0 out of 5 stars First run in new ASICS: 5 MILES!
I have worn all types of running shoes, from Nikes & Asics years ago, to New Balance, Saucony (which I love) and now back to Asics (although I still have my Sauconys). I JUST bought the GEL-KAYANO 15 and they are WONDERFUL! First day out in them, 5 miles, just a test drive and I felt like I had clouds on my feet! Fabulous shoe! Hope they last for a good long time! 3.0 out of 5 stars Runs Small, Narrow Toebox, Good Support
I have worn Asics for years and "upgraded" to the Kayano 15 after my Nimbus 9's started to wear out. I usually order my true size, 8.5 B, and don't need to size up. However, these shoes, even when the laces were loosened to try and increase the toebox area, were still a bit snug across the toes. I ran in them 3 times and developed blisters on both sides of my toes each...

3.0 out of 5 stars Runs Small, Narrow Toebox, Good Support, June 17, 2009
I have worn Asics for years and "upgraded" to the Kayano 15 after my Nimbus 9's started to wear out. I usually order my true size, 8.5 B, and don't need to size up. However, these shoes, even when the laces were loosened to try and increase the toebox area, were still a bit snug across the toes. I ran in them 3 times and developed blisters on both sides of my toes each time. I paid a lot of money for these shoes and have always been very happy with my Asics in the past, but these did not live up to my expectations. They are a bit stiff also, but do provide good cushioning/support as they did alleviate the knee pain I experience when my shoes need to be replaced. I would advise you to go up 1/2 size for maximum comfort in the toebox which runs narrower than the Nimbus and GT2130 shoes.

As a runner, I think it's best to not be a die-hard brand-fan, but be flexible because sometimes thay slow down production of your favorite shoe so we have to have more than one favorite brand or style! 2 thumbs way up! AND huge thanks & praise to Ben at PRO FIT SHOES in Plam Coast, Florida for putting up with a finicky runner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Kayano yet!, October 15, 2009
I have owned Kayanos for the last 3 generations and this one is even better than the rest! I have narrow feet and the AA width fits my foot perfectly. They're wonderful support for over-pronated feet and incredibly comfortable - I feel like I could run for days when I'm wearing them. 100% worth the price tag!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars These are my very first pair of Asics, November 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'm a long time Merrell fan, but I thought I'd give these a try based on other reviews.
First, it is true that the fit is tighter than I'm used too. I was not sure my foot was going in! (I wear medium with a narrow heel. I also have a bunion) My foot did go in after loosening the laces all the way down. The fit up front was snug, and if my toe nails were not so very short, these would have been returned. My toes are short which kept my bunion above the stitching so common in that area.
With some serious doubt I kept them on and went shopping. Right from the start my heels were happy! -and the front of the shoe was snug but seemed to conform to my foot. I've come to feel that my feet have'nt had this level of support in years!(The lacing up front is slightly to the side. I'm convinced this adds to the support my feet feel).
I live in this pair of shoes now. I work in a hospital. I'm on the go all the time, and my feet feel great!
I plan to purchase at least one more pair before they change the style on me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love them!, July 10, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have had earlier models in the Kayano line, but I love all the up dates! I run over 30 miles a week so I love how cushiony they are. It really saves my joints. The thing that I love most about Asics is that when I put them on I just have the urge to head right out and run. I think it's the way the toe box curves up, it just makes me want to lean forward and go! I have read complaints on this site about the toe box having too much room in the Kayano 15. I have to disagree with that. The toe box is comfortably snug without making the heel too tight which for me has been a problem with other shoes. Because of this my toe doesn't slide to the front of the shoe and jamb my toes. On a more superficial note: I also really like the paisley print fabric on the inside of the shoe. It's those nice visual details that make me want to wear them around town and when doing strength training after their running mileage has long passed! The only complaint I could even give is the price. I wish great running shoes weren't so expensive but at least you get what you pay for with the Kayano line.

5.0 out of 5 stars most comfortable running shoe ever, October 8, 2009
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I walk 5 miles a day 5 x per weeek, minimum. After tearing through 2 other pairs of gel kayanos (seems to be an issue with the front webbing), I tried several other good brands of shoes. No other running shoe even comes close to the cushioning and comfort of these. I'll just have to keep an eye on the webbing. size up a 1/2 size with asics

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the 14 by any means., November 13, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I was sad to see Asics no longer makes the Kayano 14, which has been by far the best running shoe I have ever owned for my feet. I quit getting the dreaded black toenails, and I upped my long runs to a half-marathon distance. Now that they are worn, I tried finding the 14's, even by searching ebay. I decided to give the 15's a try, thinking they have to at least be for the same sort of foot the other was prescribed for. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I know breaking in a new running shoe might mean a couple of bad toe rubs, but these were terrible. They feel harder, I actually feel a hardness under where my arch would be if I had an arch, and the worst thing, my lower back has been killing me since I took these out for a short test run. I'm really disappointed in these, and I'll be taking them back.

The main thing to note is that these shoes may be your perfect running shoes, but for those looking for a smooth transition from the 14 to the 15, you should go try these on in a store before ordering them. I probably should have done that anyway, but I just figured same name, new edition, would mean similar shoe, but improved for those who are running in the 14's. Not for this runner. Is it not the biggest disappointment in the world to find your perfect running shoe, and then they quit making them? Ultimate sad face.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING SHOES! i'll never buy anything but asics again!!!, August 13, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
i have been running for more 20 years, and never worn anything but nike. BUT NO MORE! i finally broke down and bought these because of the incredible reviews -- that and the fact that i have a narrow foot, and nike just doesn't make good narrow shoes -- even the narrow ones i have are too wide. it's as if this shoe was made for my foot. bought the 9.5 AA and it's perfect. it feels like running on a cloud. now i feel like a fool for having been a nike addict -- they just don't compare.

The shoe ran a 1/2 size too big for me (and I had the previous Kayano 14 to help size me). Otherwise, great shoes.

5.0 out of 5 stars First time breaking in a sneaker w/o blisters!, April 8, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Asics are the only shoes that don't give me a blister on my instep, and even my old 1140s and 2150s rubbed me the wrong way the first few runs. But these are phenomenal - fit my slightly narrow foot like a glove, nice and light, ran 5 miles the first time out and felt like they'd been tailor made for me! I'm also a fan of the asymmetrical laces - both fit-wise and style-wise. Definitely worth the investment.
I also agree with other reviewers that you should get one half size larger than your regular shoe size (but for me, at least, this has been the case for all ASICS I've had, not just the Kayano).
