4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the money
I bought these after trying to run in new balance and nikes. I didn't want to spend a lot and these shoes are worth the money. I've ran in them a lot and have been great, my knee stopped hurting like it did when I ran in other shoes. They have way more cushioning and these are a base model asics! However they are not as refined and stylish as the upper models they are...

2.0 out of 5 stars Ouch, my feet.
Size-wise, these fit tts. I usually wear a 9 in running shoes and I took a 9 in these. I have average width feet and bought C width, no complaints.

I ordered these and have worked out in them twice since, one day I ran outside on concrete (about 2 miles) and the second day I did strength training and 3 miles on an elliptical machine, and my feet were...

However they are not as refined and stylish as the upper models they are heavier and seem a little chunky ( I wear a 9.5!!) But i think i'll be running in asics from here on out and now i'm looking into cumulus and nimbus!!

5.0 out of 5 stars New to Fitness: A Very Happy Customer, November 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have put off exercising for years for two reasons: my schedule (mom of two and at-home worker) and my feet size. Now, it might seem like a lazy excuse but to any woman who wears a size 12 shoe, it's incredibly difficult to find a pair of running shoes that don't make your feet look like giant skis. The last time I bought running shoes was at least 7 years ago and that might have been the last year I wore them.

I first found these shoes at Kohls, where they were much cheaper ($34.99) but only went up to size 11. Being able to try them on made all the difference but I knew I needed a larger size. I have been so pleased with the shoe: perfect for the gym, with just the right amount of cushioning. There is also more breathing room in the toe space without looking bulky. The colors and design are simple but feminine, assuring me that I don't look man-ish, ha! I have only New Balance to compare and these earn several better reviews, from my experience. Much more comfort, better appearance, and lighter weight.

I am NOT a runner - I walk on the treadmill, and mostly bike so I cannot review these from a runner's perspective. But, I can tell you that I wear these all the time now, not just while working out. In fact, I've been wearing them all day running errands. I am one very happy customer.

4.0 out of 5 stars 38 yr-old Mom. 165 lbs. Runs about 50 miles a month, October 8, 2010

I would be considered a recreational runner. I run several 5 or 10ks a year and no more than 2 half marathons a year (so far). I wear a size 9.5.

I have been running in Asic Gel Strike 2s since May and I have put alittle over 260 miles on these shoes. I am primarily a street runner and I only use my current running shoes for running. No walking. No Shopping. Just running.

I did have to insert a gel heel cushion because I have EXTREMLY flat feet, but I gotta say, I really like these shoes. They were loads better than the Adidas running shoes I was wearing before. I have far fewing lower back issues with these shoes, although I do still struggle with AT issues. For the money, these shoes are great. I do believe though, that 300 miles is about all you're gonna get out of these shoes and you really should be able to get 300-500 miles out of your shoes. I think it's time for me to start phasing in a new pair. But for the $$$, these shoes are great. No complaints. Love 'em.

Size-wise, these fit tts. I usually wear a 9 in running shoes and I took a 9 in these. I have average width feet and bought C width, no complaints.

I ordered these and have worked out in them twice since, one day I ran outside on concrete (about 2 miles) and the second day I did strength training and 3 miles on an elliptical machine, and my feet were killing me during and after exercise both times. The two pairs of shoes that I owned before these were an Asics Gel-Nimbus and pair of Sauconeys that I picked up at Marshalls (grad student, didn't have a choice). These shoes are a definite downgrade even from the Marshalls purchase, and don't even compare to the Nimbus series, which I owned for an entire year, running 5 times a week. The balls of my feet were numb during and after both exercise sessions and my feet hurt so much after the run that I was limping. I didn't find the shoes to be breathable either (if that is a selling point for you, I know it is for me).

I think that these shoes might be appropriate for someone who jogs lightly on padded tracks or on dirt tracks, but they are not for the urban runner, or for anyone who exercises with great regularity.

I will be returning these tomorrow, wish me luck with the return process.

I have wider then normal feet so was a little worried about the fit, but they fit great. I also run on the treadmill a lot (3+ miles a couple times a week) and they haven't loss their comfort yet.

I found these to run a little small. You may want to order 1/2 size larger, otherwise they are comfortable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, July 20, 2010

Bought these shoes because I had worn out my cumulus. They turned out to be less than half the price and the performance has been comparable to the more expensive pair from a half year before.

2.0 out of 5 stars too small, September 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I wasn't sure what size to go with, so I bought 1/2 size bigger and the toe area is still too tight. Even unlacing the first level of lace holes and leaving the laces untied, the shoes make my toes numb in just over a few minutes.

I have high arches, and I love these shoes. They are very comfortable at the gym. I've been wearing ASICS for years now, and I will continue buying their products.

4.0 out of 5 stars Shoe review, October 25, 2010
This review is from: ASICS Women's GEL-Strike 2 Running Shoe (Apparel)
Fairly comfortable shoes, but more narrow than I was expecting. I have to wear thin socks with them.
