In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Very versatile running shoe. Great for runners who encounter a variety of surfaces during a single run (pavement to gravel to trail). Not heavy at all. I haven't developed any blisters on long runs either. With my other asics I always got blisters. Not to mention they look great too! I highly recommend this shoe!

I have had these shoes for a year and a half now and they are still a great pair of shoes. It's recommended that you replace your running shoes every six months to a year depending on your activity level; my average (across the year, admittedly I work out more in warmer weather) is probably 2 to 4 times a week and they're still decent shoes. I have narrow feet that pronate- roll inward when I step- and these provide a great stability/motion control in the arch and around the ankle. Being that my feet are so narrow, however, the toe box is much bigger than I need which can sometimes cause a misstep if I'm not careful. Over all though, great, durable shoes and still in decent shape after well over a year of moderate use.
