In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. I wore this shoe for over a full year. The main purpose of this shoe was for me to use during the Atlanta 2-day Walk for Breast Cancer. I trained in this shoe for a good 6 months before having to use it for the walk. During the training portion, I routinely got calf cramps and my heels/ankles would lock up. I tried lacing these shoes different, different insoles, you name it. Finally after about a good 2 months, the shoes loosened up enough that it stopped giving me so much trouble - or my feet/calves/ankles just adjusted.

During the walk, I did feel quite a bit of foot pain around mile 15 in the ball of the foot. At mile 18.5 I developed blisters on both of my feet at the ball of my foot under my toes. I was one of the luckier ones. Most people developed the blisters and foot pain way before this point.

Recently I bought a pair of Sauconys and I LOVE them. It definitely caters more to my high arch, underpronation, and random heel/Achilles pain much, much better than this pair of Asics.

This shoe is not good for people with high arches, tend to underpronate, can have heel/Achilles pain, run, or walk for long distances.

These are very comfortable shoes, with a lot of support in the middle and plenty of room in the toe. I've worn them to do aerobics 3 or 4 times now and my only issue is that they are a little high in the back and rub on my ankles. I think this is just an issue of breaking them in a bit more and maybe wearing some higher socks to protect my skin in that area. I would definitely recommend for someone on a tight budget looking for a good athletic shoe.
