They fit as expected and my high arch is supported.
This is the most expensive pair of shoes I own, and they are worth every penny for me.
, I've only had them for a month and the purple on the bottom is already worn through to the white part.

After the second world war, ASICS founder Kihachiro Onitsuka observed children wandering the streets barefoot, and decided to help the youth of his country. By promoting the values of Sport, and providing them with high quality athletic shoes to help them perform their best, he believed he could help the children of Japan build a better future with the philosophy of Anima Sana In Corpore Sano: “A Sound Mind in a Sound Body.” In 1949, Onitsuka Co. was born, and soon after, the first ever footwear was released from the fledgling brand: a basketball shoe called the “Tiger.” In the years that followed, Onitsuka Co. (re-named “ASICS” in 1977) designed a myriad of scientifically sound, sport-specific shoes for athletes. Mr. Onitsuka’s emphasis on the spirit of Sport and a focus on the needs of the athlete continue today with ASICS, Onitsuka Tiger, And ASICS Tiger shoes, clothing, and accessories. Just FYI for anyone who reads reviews for information before purchasing (as I do), at this point a lot of the reviews posted here for the gel nimbus 17 are actually old reviews for the gel kayano 17. If you sort the reviews chronologically, "newest first", the one dated March 14, 2015 is for the nimbus 17. The next one is dated June 15, 2013 and is for the kayano 17, therefore it and all the others after it will not help you decide about this shoe.

This shoe is the newest nimbus and a very recent release. I did not purchase mine from Amazon and have not worn them yet except around the house to insure the fit is right. They are very cushioned and fit well. I bought the same size I have been wearing in the nimbus 15, of which I have about 6 pairs. I also wear the kayano and have several pairs of the 19s and the 20s.

Assuming the nimbus 17 performs like the 15 has for me, I will be looking to purchase more in the future.

Perhaps Amazon will correct the issue with the reviews. If not, just be aware.

These shoes are truly like one would think walking on a cloud would be like - soft and cushioned.

I read many reviews here on Amazon in the last week. I read reviews on other ASICS, on NB, etc. From the reviews, I thought I wanted to buy a pair of ASICS Kayanos, but I really wanted to try them on. So, I went to one of the big sporting goods stores at the mall and tried a pair. It was definitely superior to two other similar brands. I walked around in them, then decided I should maybe try the wide size, since I usually wear a wide. The front of the shoe was, maybe, a little too snug. The store I was at didn't have the wide, so we walked over to another store. They didn't have them either, but I saw that they had the ASICS Kayano 20, and earlier model, for sale, so I tried those. There really wasn't much difference between the two. Still, we walked to the last store in search of the wide option just in case... they didn't have them either, BUT the sales person there told gave a great review on ASICS Gel-Nimbus 17, so I decided to try a pair. I was amazed! These had the amazing comfort of the Kayano's soft mesh on the top, but with an amazing sole - perfection! And I had no doubt that I didn't need to go find a wider size just to make sure they fit perfectly. Because I didn't find the earlier model in the Kayanos to be noticeably different, I also tried the ASICS gel-nimbus 16 to compare. I was surprised to find that there was a big difference between Gel-Nimbus 16 and Gel-Nimbus 17. The 16s were almost uncomfortable in comparison. The salesperson explained there was an improvement in the mesh of the top part of the shoe in the newer 17 model. It sure made a big difference.

    ASICS Gel-Nimbus 17 - awesome shoes!

Thanks, Amazon, for great reviews on so many products. I am a good customer here and will be buying more pairs of these great shoes right here, now that I've gone and tried them out.

The gel-nimbus 17, like its predecessors, runs very small. I wear a 6 or 6.5 street shoe, a 7 in most running shoes, and a 7.5 in this shoe. I bought the 17 after falling in love with the 15. After they wore out, I tried on the 16's and found that the cushioning had nearly disappeared. With the 17, the cushioning has improved, but still not as good as ye olden days. The uppers on these seem much stiffer, and there's a seam where the tongue attaches that I find more bothersome. I'm a little disappointed after thinking the 15 was the Holy Grail of running shoes since I have extremely high arches and underpronate. Still, I'm going to keep them as see if I can make them work. Why do they have to tinker with success? Bring back the 15's! They were so perfect!

The ONLY reason for not giving five stars is the choice of colors. The shoe is awesome! I've worn only Asics for years. In my opinion, the 15 was great, but I had two stiff, clunky 16s that I didn't love. The 17s are so cushy, like bouncing on a cloud. You feel it the second you put them on. I hate buying them at full price, like to stock up when the new model comes out and the current pair is $30 off. But I was training for a half marathon, and my knees (and toenails!)were hurting so I had to bite the bullet. I haven't had to tape my knees once since getting the 17s!! I'm going to surprise my husband with a new pair of 17s for Father's Day, even if they are still full price--- that's how much I love them. ----oh, I used to wear size 7.5, sized up to an 8 about a year ago, then I had the painful bruised toenails during training, so I sized up again to an 8.5...that's the only reason I said they ran slightly small. Maybe it's just me.

I've been running in Asics Kayanos it's been 15 years.
Kayano 17 got a lot lighter (each shoe is 12.3 ounces) and has more cushioning in the forefoot.
Off-center laces are designed to conform to the bony structure of the foot and therefore reduce irritation.
Mine are black and I really love the way they look (I am not one for pink running shoes.)
All in all, increased comfort and a better fit, but still feel like the Kayanos you've grown to love.

I had the 2150s and they gave me blisters every time I ran. I upgraded to the Gel Kayano 17s and I have NO blisters. They are a tiny bit heavier than the 2150s, but still fairly light for a shoe. VERY COMFORTABLE and the built in support is awesome!
