5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Replacement Bulbs for Panasonic WhisperWarm Fans!
Bought this bulb to replace the stock bulbs that come with the Panasonic WhisperWarm fans I had installed in my bathrooms. Those bulbs are 18 watt 35k (3500K color temperature) and produce a stark white light that I find unpleasant. Also of note, the amount of light two 18 Watt fluorescent bulbs produce is really a bit too much unless you have a truly enormous space...

2.0 out of 5 stars Burned out after 4 months
It has a nice warm light and is nice and bright for the bathroom, but mine burned out after 4 months. The package says 10,000 hrs, but that's a crock.

This review is from: ASL Q18/E/27K 18-Watt Quad 4-Pin Electronic Ballast Compact Fluorescent Bulb, Warm White (Tools & Home Improvement)
Bought this bulb to replace the stock bulbs that come with the Panasonic WhisperWarm fans I had installed in my bathrooms. Those bulbs are 18 watt 35k (3500K color temperature) and produce a stark white light that I find unpleasant. Also of note, the amount of light two 18 Watt fluorescent bulbs produce is really a bit too much unless you have a truly enormous space.

Looked around for replacements with a cooler color temperature (redder/pinker light) and found these--27k or 2700K color temperature. I also wanted less light, and found 13 watt 4 pin bulbs with the same color temperature and had hoped to install these to tone down the amount of light from my fan--that didn't work.

Note for all who (like me) might think that 4 pin 13 watt and 4 pin 18 watt bulbs are interchangeable--they are definitely not. There are a pair of fixed plastic nubs imbedded in the bulb base that makes it impossible for you to put a 13 watt 4 pin bulb into an outlet intended for an 18 watt bulb (and vice versa). Good to know as I almost broke one of my fan bulb slots trying to wedge the 13 watt bulb into the 18 watt slot. I suppose that this is because there is no transformer imbedded in these bulbs (as there is in CFLs with a screw base), so the outlet is matched for the bulbs. FYI.

Most of the complaints are about the life of the bulbs. I don't know how long my bulbs will last as they are just installed. If they die early, I will amend my review to indicate that fact.

The positive aspect of my review is based on the light these produce--which is quite a nice color compared to the standard bulbs in the WhisperWarm fans, and the fact that most purchasers of that fan (a high end model) are likely to want to make the light output a bit less stark. In the end, we just installed one 18 watt 4 pin in each fan and went with that.

Mine burned out in less than 1,000 hours. They installed these in all the bathrooms of my apartment building in Santa Ana. Not a wise choice......bg
