Best Dog Book Yet,
By A Customer
This review is from: ASPCA Complete Guide to Dogs (Aspc Complete Guide to) (Paperback)
This book has everything you should know about dogs. It is great for anyone wanting to buy a dog because it helps you realize the responsibility, the breed traits, and what is right for you. It covers dog history, health, behavior--everything! It is also good for dog enthusiasts that enjoy looking at all of the breeds out there. Great section on each breeds profile. I read the entire thing, even all of the dog breeds simply because I love dogs. Very interesting, and covers all the basics. Must buy!

This guide provides an excellent, comprehensive, step by step review of being a dog owner. It covers deciding if a dog is the right pet for you, deciding which kind of dog fits your lifestyle, preparing your home, buying food and supplies, introducing the dog to the family and other pets, nutrition, health, training, behavior, older pets, legal pet ownership issues, and many other topics. Although the breed descriptions are somewhat brief for a detail fanatic like myself, the pictures are nice, and it's a good starting point for researching specific breeds more in depth. The breed descriptions strive to remain positive, while indicating that there may be some less than desirable and/or difficult to manage tendencies in some breeds. I look at this book all the time even though I already have 2 dogs.

This is an excellent guide book for the beginner who's thinking about getting a dog and an excellent reference for the experienced dog owner. It gives you a good overview of all breeds and their specific traits and needs. It helps guide you into really thinking about which kind of dog fits your lifestyle and living arrangements before you commit to an animal. It also gives practical information on daily care and first aid, including, for example, what plants you shouldn't have in your house.

This is the all around best dog book. It tells everything you need to know about caring for your dog. It also has a lot of pages full of information about dog breeds. It tells about their temperment, grooming needs, excercise needs, if they are good with kids, their size, and much more. It also tells about their appearance. This book is a must have for all dog owners and dog lovers.

This review is from: ASPCA Complete Guide to Dogs (Aspc Complete Guide to) (Paperback)
This book is magnificent! It lists every AKC breed that exists, complete with pictures of each one and detailed explanations of each. It tells the readers which ones are good guard dogs, which ones are good with kids, and which ones are high maintenance (grooming, exercise, etc). Easy to read, wonderful reference that you'll use repeatedly. Highly recommend!

They tell you exactly what this book is on the cover... " Everything You Need to Know About Choosing and Caring for Your pet. " I love the ASPCA and this book is a great resource. They take you through the breeds of many dogs, showing size, exercise needs, grooming needs, behavior, and more. Giving you tips on everday care for your dog, to how to look out for serious medical problems. I suggest this book for any and every doglover!

This book is somewhat innaccurate, yet it does include important facts as well.,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: ASPCA Complete Guide to Dogs (Aspc Complete Guide to) (Paperback)
Some of the facts in this pet care guide are innaccurate, as well as MOST of them being true. Although some of the life span facts, and ibs. facts are incorrect. This dog guide is worth buying, as long as you don't rely on it as your number one recource. Use the internet, and other books as well, to backup some of your un-answered questions, and facts you're un-sure of in this dog care guide. This book is great for looking up quick facts, but not great for searching up a full backround, or history check on a specific breed,and/or illness.

ASPCA Complete Guide to Dogs,

This review is from: ASPCA Complete Guide to Dogs (Aspc Complete Guide to) (Paperback)
This book is an excellent primer for someone interested in an overview of the needs of a family/person getting a dog. It is also very useful in providing information about different breeds with the characteristics and tempererament of the various breeds. For someone who is interested in a "purebred" dog, this book is an excellent research tool. For someone interested in an overview of the dogs needs and requirements, this book is a very useful tool.

This is a pretty good book, just inaccurate at some points..,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: ASPCA Complete Guide to Dogs (Aspc Complete Guide to) (Paperback)
This book is a very good book to reference to and look at if you need help with something, but some of the dog breeds traits are listed inaccurately... Like for example: A dog breed might be listed as easy to groom, but in real life, grooming is a challenge! Or the dog breed might be listed as something and actually be something else... It's an interesting book, but don't use it as your only resource to a breed. Search the internet a little bit and see if it is actually what you think it is.

I love this book and i would love to share this info with everybody. It is probably the best dog breed guide you can get and i would love to hear anybody come up with a book better than this one( actually i would love to get that book if it is better than this one) but i think that would be very hard to compare it to any others. From the cute pictures of the dogs to the helpful info on every page to the tables on different dogs in different breed groups. As you can tell i am a dog finatic and as i have 3 dogs of my own and i stll want more. this book is very very helpful. hope i helped you decide to pick this book for i no u will love it as much as i do. it is my favorite dog book. i love aspca books all of them, check them out like i did.
