I wasn't sure what I would be getting into with this board as I have never purchased ASRock before. I have had good luck with Asus so I was hesitant to try anything else. The many awards and great reviews on other websites swayed me so I decided to give it a try as it had the features I was looking for. So far I am quite happy with it.

Pros:

The Bios screens are fantastic! This leaves Asus Bios in the dust on Mars.
This mobo is stable and has not had any crashes yet to date.
The overclocking tools on this are out this world.
The graphics are way better with the my older GTX 480 card in this mobo and Intel Core i7-3770K CPU 3.5 GHz combo.
There is a temperature moniter utility along with alot of other utilities that are useful.
Board doesn't run hot. I am running with an Artic CPU cooler with Arctic Silver CMQ2-25G Ceramique 2 Tri-Linear Thermal Compound and temps are staying around 40-44 Celcius during gaming.
Works fine with Vista 64-bit.

Setup problems:

I had one disturbing issue during my first bootup attempts. I received the blue screen of death many times and I couldn't get into the system even in safe mode. It turned out to be my HDD SATA was setup without RAID function. The solution is a Bios setup which I found on page 52 of the owners manual. I made the Bios changes and I was up and running without any further problems. I have Vista 64-bit and plan to keep it until Microsoft doesn't support it any longer because I still like to play some of my older games.

Cons:

I still have a great PCI 2.0 which would'nt fit into the PCI 2.0 slot on the board because of edge location which puts it too close to my power suppy. Fortunely PCI 3.

I'm not an over-clocker (so far) but this board is extremely well built and reliable. I have an I5 chip, 32 gig of memory and a 2gig video card. I added a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO to cool the CPU. The board has 13 thermal sensors. My I5 chip is currently running at 75 degrees ferinheight and the highest temperature on the mother board is 87 degrees. If heat is the big enemy of a desktop computer then this one should last forever.

FarCry3, PlantSide2, and Half-Life2 run perfectly on my machine so haven't felt the need to speed up the processor. If I run into anything that could use faster processing I could add water cooling to offset the higher processing speed. The system has two places to connect the water pipe. Without the water system this piping just adds to the convection cooling.

All considered this is a great gaming machine but also soundly built for any purpose. I have an SSD boot drive and larger conventional drives for mass storage. Business applications go like the wind and more computationally demanding editing programs like Photoshop are very fast.

No thunderbolt capability but who knows if and when that will matter for PC users. A generous supply of other slots and ports.

I recommend this board for gaming and general use.

In the past, I have only bought MSI and Asus motherboards. I swore to those brands. However, after looking at all of the benchmarks I decided to venture out and try this board. It it easily one of the top performing z77 boards period. The aesthetics are sexy. The overclocks are so high. The quality is the best I've had my hands on. If you want the best and are ok with spending a little, this is what you want.

Bought this motherboard to replace my Foxconn mobo that burnt out. Happy to say it fit in my case - its rather large - and everything is working as expected. The layout is nice, and the ports are really easy to get to. Love the ability to overclock, as well.
