AST VP2 is an incredibly effective protein. I began lifting weights in 2002 at a starting weight of only 117 lbs ( am 5'7" and tend to have a lean build). I used GNC whey protein powder and was able to put on a few pounds and up how much I was lifting, but never really got the results I wanted. I began to experiment with a few more proteins, such as ones offered by Cytosport, Optimum nutrition and several other varieties available at GNC. I would certainly consider myself a hard gainer.

Then in late 2005 I moved in with a freind from work who was an amature body builder. He gave me an idea of how to build up my routines more effectively. I began doing this and it made some difference, but I was still not getting the gains I wanted.

My goals have always been to have a lean athletic build with maxium defintion and a decent amount of muscle mass. I just want to be healthy and look great with my shirt off. The kind of look you can only get from the dedication in diet and exercise.

I had been using, at that time, ON whey and ocasionaly some Wal-Mart whey isolate brand. My roommate, who was capable of benching 500 lbs, suggested I try a different protein. He reccomended his prfference -AST VP2 - and got me 2lb container in chocolate.

Within 2 weeks I was already pushing heavier weights and my veins were more noticeable. after 2 months, my biceps (which is one of my hardest muscles get gains in) were noticeable bigger and my workouts didn't burn me out as much. after 3 months of use my incline bench press went from 120 lbs to 165 and I was able to push 190 standard bench. I could then curl My roommates 45 lbs dumbells too!I had finnally found a protein that worked with my body!

AST always maximizes my gains, though one other protein comes close, VP2 is unsurpasssed. While using VP2, my weight went from low 120 to about 138 at 5"7" with single digit body fat. I also maintained a VERY lean body with visibile striations though my chest and I also maintained excellent abdominal definition (much to the envy of my other fitness-minded friends).

As for flavor, it is not the best chocolate ever, but is far from bad. I do like it. AST's Citrus splash VP2 and chocolate are their best. They also do not use any aspartame!

So, if you are a hard gainer like me, This will likely turn it around. Even if your goals are different than mine (as my roommates were), I reccommend giving AST VP2 a shot to see what it does for you.

I have been a natural bodybuilder for over 10 years and have used the product as my primary source of protien supllementation. This is the best tasting, easy mixing whey protein I have ever tried. On many trips I have taken I have been unable to get a jug of this after running out and have had to try other brands and formulations and nothing but Isopure Carb Free comes even close. If you search on the net, you can find this stuff for less than $25.00 for 2lbs. Try it and you will never use another whey protein.

It's hard to review an item that doesn't give instant results. Like with all protein powders, if you don't put in the work you won't see the results. through out the internet this protein gets great reviews in testing for ingredients and usable protein. I have had steady increases while using the product without plateau, and for me that is what i'm shooting for. This is a very highly rated protein from many fitness sites and, and I do get steady gain! As far as taste and ease of mixing, I didn't buy it to compare to a blizzard from dairy queen, but it goes down just fine and I'm going for the best volume of whey isolates in my after workout shake. And that is exactly what I get!

What first drew my attention to this product is its very low sodium content. When you're drinking a pre and post workout shake every day, the sodium in most other quality protein powders adds up quickly (and we all know that's not a good thing, right???). At only 70mgs per scoop, this protein powder is among the lowest I've found. In my opinion, this is what separates this protein from most others (compare that to Isopure at aprox. 170mgs per scoop.)

I have seen great results with this product. Fantastic for every day use. In fact, depending on how it goes, I might keep this protein in my diet all the way up to competition date. I always remove protein shakes from my diet 2 - 3 weeks out and go with real food, but a friend of mine used this all the way to the end of a competition and he was the most shredded he's ever been. I believe that he was able to keep this protein in his diet all the way to the end because of the low sodium.

Mixed with water, the double rich chocolate tastes better than I expected. Not the best, but if you're a bodybuilder, you're not in it for the taste anyways. You're in it for the results. The fact that it tastes good is simply a bonus. It also mixes well, as long as you have a good mixer bottle like Single 20oz Sundesa Blender Bottle, Colors Vary.

works great. one of the lowest calorie protein supplements out there. the chocolate tastes good, but avoid the vanilla. i've gone through about 3 2lb tubs so far. i'm also extremely lactose/dairy intolerant, and the whey isolate digests through my system fine. quality amazon vendor, i received my shipment in about 1 week.

The product is really good, but it did not come sealed inside. I found it very strange.
And Amazon has a customer service for me to complain.

This powder is great! I use the vanilla to mix with my morning fruit. Its low calorie, practically no carbs and no fat! Since it has no carbs I mix it with my oatmael in the morning and stay full until lunch. Its great for after an evening workout since its high protien and practically no carbs! I love this stuff!!

This is good stuff. I started body building only a few months ago and I have tried about 6 different brands of whey protein. This is the best one. It doesn't pretend to be something its not by adding a bunch of BS filler and stuff like that to make the nutritional info look huge. It is pure protein, and 0 cholesterol 0 fat. This is perfect for me as I eat alot of eggs so I need to keep cholesterol and fat down on my protein shakes. The price is good. One scoop and 1 cup of milk is 35ish grams of protein, and unless your Jay Cutler size, 35 grams of protein in a shake is just about right.
