I bought this for my girlfriend, so she would leave my tablet alone. This is how we bought this tablet: I set out reading on forums and review sites. Comparing specs, limitations, and prices. I researched for about 3 weeks. The result was the Nexus 7, best value/dollar ratio. The 32gb wasn't available so we got the 16gb. She reads books on it(better than the Kindle), so no sdcard and 16gb limit are not a factor. We have another tablet that streams HDMI, so no problem there either.
For reading she found an app that you can change font type, font color, and background color. Which is ideal for less eye strain along with multiple breaks in reading. (**Continuous reading on a tablet or smartphone is hazardous to your eyesight. Google it.)
The display is exceptionally vivid, 213dpi - 1280*800, nice and crisp. With either MX player or BSplayer, video playback is smooth as silk - thanks to a 1.3ghz quad core Tegra 3 processor and 1gb ram. Apps and games are working great.

As far as being limited to 16gb storage memory, that's fixed by OTG cable(microUSB male to USB female). With this, your imagination or your wallet/bank account is the limit on what size storage you have. You can use a small flash drive or 4TB hard drive plugged right into the OTG cable. *The bigger the drive the longer the wait on accessing the drive.
The Nexus 7 can be charged wirelessly through a Qi charger(if you mod the tablet-pretty straight foward instructions for DIY'rs), also charges from a $50 docking station, as well as the stock wall USB charger which is 2amp. So when plugged into other charge ports they have to be 2amp otherwise the tablet doesn't want to charge right or at all (My PC USB is only 1amp). Plugged into the wall it fully charges about 1.

Loved this tablet at first. Now battery dies rapidly, and it takes HOURS to turn back on when charging, and more than 12 hours to fully charge sometimes. The OS is also starting to really be slow, takes forever to open apps and switch them around. I think these problems could easily be remedied, as I am under warranty, but getting through to ASUS was impossible and once I did they expected me to pay shipping!! On top of that, they dont have any shipping parameters listed, but if ASUS deems your packaging insufficient, they won'f fix your product!
After some research online, I found out SO many others have had my same problems, and that when they did send their tablet to ASUS, it either was sent back unfixed, or never sent back!!
I am so bummed because I really liked this tablet. Guess its time to save for a new one. Will NEVER buy ASUS again.

I have experience with both android and apple tablets, and the Google Nexus 7 is by far the best out there. You cannot go wrong with this buy. The product is refurbished, but may as well be new, because it looks and functions as if it were just assembled at the factory. It is user-friendly to the max, clean, sharp, crisp, and crystal clear. It has a powerful battery and storage capacity. One of the best buys I've ever made!

I'm getting really, REALLY annoyed with this device. Bought it from Office Depot about a year ago and it has been nothing but power problems.

When the thing actually turns on, it works as expected -- like a slower version of my Samsung Galaxy S4, but with a bigger screen. I guess that merits the star.

But the biggest issue is that if you do not plug this device in EVERY SINGLE DAY and you commit the sin of letting the battery drain then you are in for a world of frustration. Google's website has these "fixes" for that issue, but it only fixes the issue that one time. If the battery ever drains again, then you need to spend a half an hour doing the following:

1) Plug Nexus 7 in. Watch the blank screen while it does not register that you have anything plugged in.
2) Press the power + the volume down button. Watch the blank screen while it does not go to the bootloader menu.
3) Repeat steps 1 and 2 for half an hour. At this point, you may end up giving up. Try again tomorrow when the frustration wears off.
4) Finally get to the bootloader menu and choose "power off." Watch the device power off.
5) Watch as your device finally charges. Four hours later, your device might turn on.

Doesn't that sound exhausting? Well it is. Every....single....time.

You'd better keep a plug that powers the Nexus 7 in your pocket at all times since if it runs out of battery may God have mercy on your soul. Oh and did I mention that not all micro-USB plugs are compatible with the Nexus 7? Sure, they plug into the device, but unless you are using the one that came with the damn thing, you'll never know if it is just the plug, or if you ran out of batteries.

I have been looking for the Nexus 7 for a while and I am shocked that here at Amazon anyone would pay this much for this product.
At Google you can get this for 200 bucks; at Gamestop, a place where I bought one, new 32 gig for 229 dollars.
A refurbished for $165 dollars. (16gig)
So, why would anyone pay this much at Amazon or any place else?
If it included 3G or came with a super duper nice case, then OK, but just for the tablet?
I really love the Nexus 7. I had a very heated internal debate about this or the Amazon Kindle Fire HD and choose this over the Kindle
after reading several reviews that showcased the two products side by side.
The Nexus blew away the Kindle on all but one category which was access to Amazon videos (LoveFilms)
I also love that you can easily root the tablet and make it "yours'. Install the "Beats Audio" free app and the sound quality is just short of amazing.
Buy it if your looking for a great small tablet but do not spend this much money for it. Look around, check out your local stores,
see what they have, but to spend this much on a product that Google sells for 200 bucks, is not a wise thing to do.
Just my opinion.
