5.0 out of 5 stars Best midrange Motherboard for your money May 4, 2011
Verified Purchase
If you've seen some of the other motherboards out there, the Asus Republic of Gamer and MSI motherboards are quite expensive with price tags of upwards $200 and $300 dollars. This Asus 88td motherboard is loaded with features, a sturdy design, and performance.

- Programs that come with the motherboard make it extremely easy to track your temperatures, overclock, change fan speeds and more! This motherboard and most of the Asus motherboards are extremely user-friendly. This motherboard comes with a CD for many programs, which is a plus.

- Solid build. The cooling pieces, board, and everything is well built. Strong and sturdy.

- Onboard VGA is great for a motherboard. Roughly Less than 512MB and can run some games high and high end games at low settings. I can play counterstrike source with high settings and still run smoothly. On a higher end game like Call of duty : world at war, you can play the game with everything turned down low. Bearable still. I would recommend buying a dedicated graphics though because many are inexpensive nowadays. I myself have the HIS Radeon HD 6870 1 GB (256bit) GDDR5 Eyefinity 2x Mini-DisplayPort HDMI 2x DVI (HDCP) Retail (RoHS) PCI Express X16 2.1 Video Card H687F1G2M. The card runs beautifully with this motherboard.

- 5.1 audio card. No need to buy a dedicated audio card. It's decent and runs very well with my 5.1 speaker set.

- SATA ports are conveniently located an inch or two on top of the PCI E slot. I'm aware that past models have had the bigger graphic cards block part of the sata ports. There is no issue here. All 5 ports are visible and easily accessible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ignore The Idiot Who Rated 3 Stars December 23, 2010
I'd wish to be more civil about this.

But the other person rating this motherboard is extremely ignorant and NOT tech savy.

This is a gem of a motherboard. It supports a VAST range of memory so I don't at all understand the complaint.

Memory Supported:
1066MHz DDR3
1333MHz DDR3
1800MHz DDR3 (OverClocking)
1600MHz DDR3
2000MHz DDR3 (OverClocking)

Unlike most high end motherboard that don't support below 1600 and at time 2000mhz. This board also comes with a descent integrated Radeon HD 4250 series. All in all a gem that can support both USB 3.0 AND the new AMD Black Edition 1090T 6 CPU-Core processors.

A must buy even if your not on a budget. This includes 2x 16 PCI video card support as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great board Great price January 1, 2011
By Jhug
I didnt want to post a review until i had used this for a little while, it's been anout 3 weeks now and I can honestly say this is the best board I have ever owned. The overclocking features are wonderful and very easy to use. I currently have this clocked at 3.8 on a 3.4 ghz chip and at max load the cpu temp doesn't go above mid 40's with the stock CPU fan. the only con is that until you install the software the fan spins at above 3000 RPM and sounds like a jet engine.

The included software also allows you to flash the bios pain free. The on-board audio is more than enough without a dedicated sound card, it also includes an on-board Radeon 4250 intergrated video chip but if you plan on gaming then get a dedicated video card. I currently have this running an AMD Phenom II blackedition 965 quad 3.4 ghz and a Radeon 6870 PCIe 1gb video card.

you won't find a better deal and you can't beat Asus for motherboards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great motherboard for the price March 26, 2011
awesome motherboard installed into my case very easily for a first timer. can house up to a phenom II x6 processor, can also hold the athlon, semperon ones as well.i plan on putting a AMD phenom II x 4 into mine pretty ample for my gaming needs so far. This is nice has 5 sata ports hey two optical drives and a couple hard drives , great for future upgrades , very fair with the pci ports incase you want to add tv tuner cards, diff sound cards, has two pci-express x 16 can crossfire at x4 . has a built on board video in case one decides they're going to use that til they upgrade to a actual graphics card for gaming it's good incase kind of a thing .lots of updated features. and a good fair price as well.Very well futureproof and easy for us girl builders to figure out too. Good for overclockers(if your one who wants to do that I myself don't not a risk taker myself). nice room for future upgrades and plans. fit well into my haf 922 case no issues. I took a while reading and researching til I decided this would be the best for this gamer/geek girl who's a bit of a tomboy and has some experience upgrading and wanting to finally build a game for my gaming needs including my sims addiction too this board here would make someone a very nice budget gaming build.

once set up and working is a good motherboard has a nice bios for those who do the oc stuff however I don't also if your have a case with a "esata " port up front figure in one those sata ports on the motherobard if you want extra stuff like bluray burner and stuff in the future if those 5 are not enough you may want to purchase in addition a pci slot sata card to make sure you have what you need and want for future stuff.
