Customer Questions & Answers

Customer Reviews

I think the answer is pretty obvious, given the known quality of the mobo.

The only down side and possibly my oversight, since I didn't look into it, is the case has USB 3.0 ports but the board only has connections for USB 2.0 on it.

If you are on a budget and need a good motherboard with plenty of expandability I highly recommend this board.

Good features for the price and form factor (full ATX) with room to grow. More external fan control connectors on main board and plenty of PCI slots. The lack of onboard video is a plus as that allows for more useful features and price point. With six SATA slots, I'm down to two (one external (with extra back plate) and one internal use) - so I can still expand the system later.

Things I really like about this board:

>UEFI Bios
>Price
>Support for Windows 8 & FX CPU Line
>USB 3 support
>WORKS OUT OF THE BOX WITH ESXi - NIC & Storage controller supported!
>Up to 32GB RAM
>Expansion slot layout

Pros:
Tons of USB ports
Awesome UEFI Bios
Easy setup
Cheap

Cons:
None so far (will update if something pops up)

I decided to build a new PC and was torn between this and a Gigabyte mobo. I decided on this one because of the Asus name and I couldn't be happier. Everything worked great. The Bios were the easiest I have ever used. It has a full GUI interface with mouse support. The board has plenty of usb ports on the back and plenty of headers on the board for more. It also supports faster charging of iPads and my Nexus 7. I put a six core FX processor on it but it supports up to an eight core AMD FX. If you are on a budget and need a good motherboard with plenty of expandability I highly recommend this board.

First let me just say I bought this MoBo and it's working great 2 months in, I've had zero issues with it so far. The set up was a breeze.

Here's the thing though, I regret my purchase greatly!. Simply because the non LE version of this is listed MSRP as only $10 more, but at this moment its about $6 more. For those $6 more you get some very good additions that I wish I knew about before I bought this.

1. VRM chip heatsink. This keeps the VRM chips cooler, especially useful if you plan on OC. Either way it helps keep things cooler in the case. If you get the LE version (this one) you'll wind up having to buy heatsinks separately for around $8, and add them yourself if you want to OC because these chips get HOT!. If you seriously OC on this MoBo stock you'll either get throttling very quickly or flat out system crashes because of overheating.

2. USB 3.0 header. This lets you plug in USB 3.0 header cables if your computer case comes with it (which mine does) and get 3.0 speed. Otherwise if you want to use those 3.0 ports you'll have to buy some converter cables for around $8-10 and be stuck at 2.0 speed with them.

3. 8 pin CPU power socket. Allowing for 8 pin connection, for more stability and power to your CPU if required.

So yes, do yourself a huge favor and just pick up the non LE version of this board. It's just a smarter buy IMHO. Hopefully some people will avoid my mistake if they will like to use any of those features.

Great online support. Everything was packaged nicely, quick delivery. Comes with DVD and manuals but everything is available on the ASUS website. Very happy with this board. Lots of overclocking options with the AMD overclocker or the ASUS motherboard software.

Bought this after my Asrock board showed up from Newegg bad. Was $10 more and $4 next day shipping. Couldn't be happier. Was for my wife, so couldn't wait around for another board to show up from Newegg.

This is what I have with this board.
FX4100-OC'ed to 4ghz, easy peasy(overclocked to 4.6 without a voltage increase but toned it down:) since it has a stock cooler)
8gb 1866mhz-Ripjaws
650watt Corsair PS
1tb Western Digital Blue-3gbs
